Friday Night Stars (Thursday Too!)

Here are a few of the stars from around the Huron League this week.

Airport Offense: It's tough to single out anyone on the offense for the Jets they all did a great job while rolling up 550 yards in their 54-26 victory over Huron.

Huron Offense: The Chief offense was rolling Friday night against Airport as they racked up 450 yards in total offense in their loss to the Jets.

Micheal Kowalski from Riverview had 6 catches for 89 yards in the Pirates 17-10 loss to SMCC.

Michael Howey
from SMCC ran for 109 and a touchdown on just 13 carries in the Falcons win over Riverview.

Ryan Hasten from Milan help lead the Big Reds to a 14-0 shutout victory over Flat Rock. The senior defensive lineman was credited with 12 tackles.

Mike Oley from Jefferson led his team on a 52 yard drive which set up Jake Sterling's 20 yard FG with 29 seconds left to give the Bears a thrilling coming from behind 31-29 victory. Oley also led Jefferson with 9 tackles on defense.

Jim Cameron
from Grosse Ile had 5 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown in the Red Devils 31-29 loss to Jefferson.

This is a great Blog site. And props to giving credit to that entire Airport offense. Your exactly right when u say u can't single out someone from that offense. 3 backs with over 100yrds rushing? thats what a quality team with Depth does. when one kid gets tired send in the next Speedy kid to get the job done. Good win Jets go get Milan!

I agree with everything you stated in your comments, this is a great blog. Also, Airports Offensive Line was incredible. Huron's defense didn't have a chance. Plus the fact, it has become apparent Huron's system is missing a Defensive Philosophy.... Milan and SMCC are going down this year. I don't care who does it, but, its going to be a great season with many upsets.

SMCC is not down this year. they are much better than last years team. You can say that smcc is down after they play you guys. (Airport)smcc should win out still.

Airport did put up an amazing performance albiet against Huron. This game will be interesting against Milan, big step up in defense by facing Milan this week, also a big revenge factor working against Milan. Should be a good game

You didn't think Huron was any better than in years past?

Smcc isnt down? They barely beat Riverview, you cant say there not down this year.

Riverview had many excellent juniors on the field who did not play varsity last year. thier line averaged 250lbs compared to cc's 200. good win for cc now on to FR...

The poster did not say SMCC was down this year he said they are going down... very different statements. From what I see the HL is much improved over last year and every game must be taken seriously. To go 7-0 or 6-1 in the league this year will be quite an accomplishment. Good luck to all! Let's qualify 4 this year!

Here this..... Airport Jefferson and MIlan will all have trouble with Riveview.... write it down.

Are you kidding me?!?! SMCC had over 300 yards. Riverview had 168. Smcc could have scored at the end but they kneed the ball out at the 2 yard line. Detroit Crockett? considering they just beat Cass Tech and pretty much ensured an undefeated season (atleast for the regular) condsidering smcc was winnng pretty much the whole game and lost it with two seconds left to a team of tht caliber who would beat your airport jets by around 35 id say. you say that they are down? Have you forgot who everyone is picking to win the league?? SMCC

SMCC is not going to win the league. They wont beat Airport or Jefferson. If Huron's D can step up big (i'm talking REAL BIG) when they play CC, Huron will take that game.

Let's just take the games one at a time. We will be able to tell a lot withing the season with this week's Airport/Milan game. We will see if Airport is "all that!" It will be interesting to see everyone's predictions.

Redmond is a dandy coach... knowing who he got his start under (HOF coach Joe Sandersen) explains alot. Airport was the worst program in michigan history minus New Boston Huron untill Redmond got there... he should have the keys to the city.

jw why dont you say who you are instead of just putting your initials down. We'll see though when smcc beats all of those teams handly.

Anonymous said...

How can you say cc is not down? The HEAD COACH stated it very clearly in the paper that there not as good as people think they are! So obviously them being picked to win the league isnt so much reality I dont see them beating alot of key teams such as jefferson airport and huron

How can you say when CC beats everyone handily? They beat a crap View team by one score...

Silver spoon looks kinda cloudy.

Love the Falcon bashers.... be sure to dry your eye when your team loses in the first round of the playoffs and CC goes deep.....

Anonymous said...

Wow the last comment is terrible, of-course they'll go deep they play weak teams, and i mean weak teams. The should win states every year but they don't. COME ON their like Division 7.

Anonymous said...

thats because CC is D6 unlike Airport who is D3 and sometimes D2.... You play in the playoffs who your enrollement dictates you play. pretty simple folks.

Anonymous said...

close. they are division 6. smcc has a lot of work to do. THE COACH EVEN SAID SO. y are those teams weak? just because they are in division 6? it's all the hype saying how good smcc is. not them! i think they still have a decent team they are just not where they want to be yet.

For the same reason you choose not to pal. I put j.w. down so it doesn't look like just a bunch of random people talking, and the things i say can be linked together. Either way, why do you care what my name is?

couldn't agree more with anonymous 1:20pm...you can't change what division you play in for the playoffs. those are the teams smcc has to play in the playoffs deal with it! they usually do pretty well in them most of the time

i really dont care bout playoffs, the best way to determine the better team is head to head, i was at a airport baseball game when i seen CC's track team come up to airports baseball team, and started tlking crap bout going farther in the football playoffs. I couldnt believe it. Airport beat them 21-0. Complete domination. and still cocky CC still thinks their better. Cc plays blind kids in the playoffs and think their good, it wont matter this year Blissfield is gunna womp on CC this year in the playoffs

Anonymous said...

Ya you cant choose who you play but dont be puttin down teams like aiport and jefferson saying they will loose 1st round and cc will go deep! CC would forsure loose 1st round if they didnt play D6 schools and played with the big boys! CC should win the championship everytime if they make it to playoffs after looking at who they play for the regular season!

Anonymous said...

show me on here where people are saying smcc is saying they can hang with the "big boys"?? detroit crockett isnt a "big boy"?? crocket just beat cass tech from my understanding too! i know airport is good, but do u think them or any other school in the league could hang with crockett?

Yea i was at that game to bud. Only it was the airport kids like baker and other kids who don't play as well they were chirpin to smcc kids takin a warmup lap that they suck and are no good and they smashed them 21-0. of course they are going to get mad and retaliate. Airport finally beat smcc for the first time in years. GET OVER IT. SMCC beats them practically all the time but they don't run their mouths like they do. Oh and the reason they have success in the playoffs is because the teams they play are not use to the T-formation. Many of the league teams are catching up and finding ways to limit the offense.

ALL your doing is stating how great smcc's program is. Your saying then every team in the league should smash them because they have double the enrollment then huh? Well cc still dominates the league and playoffs and thats why they have the success they do. Thanks for the compliment. GO FALCONS

SMCC plays D6 schools and airport plays D2-3 schools...thats the way its going to be!! get over it!!! ohh by the way smcc beat airport 4 out of the last 5 years. 2004 (45-6), 2005 (47-26), 2006 (12-7), and 2007(27-17) and cc lost last year (21-0)! Don’t get me wrong airport still does have a heck of a program!!

Anonymous said...

cc lucks out because they are a private school. yeah they dont have many kids but the kids they do have are usually active in sports and dont have to count all the emo kids, gangsters, or specail ed kids as part of their enrollment giving all the public schools the shaft basicly.

Anonymous said...

OK everyone be in agreement that smcc and airport have good programs. They both do!!!! Im a region player and i am tired of hering this and that about these two schools. Come playoff time get behind all the region teams and cheer them on.

Anonymous said...

agree!! thank you for saying that!
