The falcons taking home all the honors... well deserved.

Looks like my prediction of Lovell winning Defensive Player of the Year came true. Funny how that works out.

Congrats to those who made the Coach's team, maybe the most important honors of all.

I find it interesting (not wrong or unjustified) that Milan, a playoff qualifying team, only had two first team players with one of each for offense and defense.

Congrats to all the players who received all-league honors.

I'll post this here as well.

Wow. SMCC wins the League and BOTH players of the year? 13 pass attempts and not even the most rushing yards on his OWN team for player of the year? AND T.J. not even having HALF the tackles of a player on his team getting player of the year? That is absolute crap.

Mays was a LOCK for offensive, and Defensive was between Weclowski Riopelle and Pannone HANDS DOWN.

Now watch who makes all region and we can all get a laugh at ANOTHER botched Huron League voting scheme by sour coachs not voting for the BEST player.

ya youy must have been at the meeting because thats i dont know how to say it. wow.

WELC. you he MAN. he will prove it at the next leverl watchh

Anonymous said...

lovell really?
who rigged this one Giarmo.
wow

Anonymous said...

just because lovell doesn't have the stats doesn't mean he isn't one of the top defensive players in the league. yah i agree weclowski, pannnoe and riopelle were solid candidates as well. the COACHES voted for lovell and he won! he was a unaminous choice for 1st team so all of the coaches voted for him, that tells me something. it tells me that they saw something that made him deserving. congrates to TJ!! and congrates to all of the other players!! good luck to all teams tomorrow!!!

DWILL said...

Ummmmmmmm okay lets give the defensive player of the year to Lovell for having 48 tackles??? wow very much rigged! it shouldve been to the weclowski from huron despite their 3-6 record. Lovell is good but he should not have won that.

Anonymous said...

j.w.- do you think the coaches(the sour ones) have it out for Airport? If so, why?

Anonymous said...

"ya youy must have been at the meeting because thats i dont know how to say it. wow.

-Way to represent!

Anonymous said...

I hope you are being sarcastic when you say rigged. You know ALL the coaches vote and ALL the coaches state their case for their players. Gairmo isn't the only one who votes. And I don't think you can vote for your own player.

Anonymous said...

what is the criteria for the coach's team?

Huronleaguefootball said...

I believe that can be anybody on the roster that the coach thought was deserving of recognition.

Anonymous said...

DWILL, explain why you think it was rigged? all the coaches vote. they can vote for whoever they want.

Anonymous said...

No i dont think they have it out for Airport. Mays should have won, without a doubt, EVERYONE agrees. As for DPOY, like i said Weclowski, Riopelle and Pannone would have made much better choices. This is MY opinion, and if ANYONE got robbed it would be Milan for having only 2 players make 1st. team.

Opoy and Dpoy what a joke good players thats it.But when you did what MAYS and WECLOWSKI did and they dont get it its rigged.Start calling the award Opoy& Dpoy for the team that wins the league. Not Opoy&Dpoy for the Huron league.Because they did not get it right at all.Witch makes them awards mean nothing now.And how about the two kids you riped off sad.

Anonymous said...

After Opoy and Dpoy picks like that. I hope the confession booths are full at smcc. They should be thats the reason no one respects the Huron league.
HURON LEAGUE IS A JOKE

Anonymous said...

confession booth?? whats that supposed to mean?? smcc had nothing to do with the picks. the COACHES did, not smcc.

SOME(not all) of you make it sound like TJ and mike didn't deserve it. they are both good players and athletes. yes, there were other players deserving of the award as well. if you are gonna blame someone blame ALL OF THE COACHES and don't put lovell and howey down and make it sound like the award is crap now.

If mays and weclowski won there wouldn't be any complaints, but since they didn't there are. you can never make everyone happy!

Anonymous said...

the person with the best stats don't win all of the time. look at last year; if i am not mistaken panonne lead the league in tackles and he did not win DPOY. Box from Milan did. again i think i am correct, but if im not someone feel free to correct.

goes to show you, its not all about stats

Anonymous said...

Stop saying stats Don,t matter they matter very much.At every level so stop saying that. Are they everything no but they are what every school at the next level look at even the pro,s.tj had 47 tackles thats a joke.howey is a track guy dont a fb guy he had 13 passes wake up.change the award so everyone knows that its for the best players on the team that wins the league. And that its not for the two best players in the hole league.Because everyone knows those two guys are not the best even they do.

Anonymous said...

anonymous, do you realize that smcc basically NEVER passes. so howey can't have passing stats.

I also think you kind of contradicted yourself when you talked about stats. you said you wanted people to stop saying stats dont matter and then you said i quote "Are they everything no but they are what every school at the next level look at even the pro" --you are right when you say that every school at the next level looks at stats, but there is more! they do not go on just stats alone. they watch film, have a scout watch them in person, etc. yeah stats are a part of it, but they arent the whole package.

Mr. HuronLeagueMan said...

Stats don't matter.

And by the way, Craig Miller was Co-Defensive Player of the Year last year and Jefferson did not even make the playoffs.

Anonymous said...

This is terrible. Weclowski deserved it without a doubt. So did mays. Lets look at something
Weclowski- 157 tackles and a int
Lovell- 48 tackles...

Head to head
smcc beats huron 20-19
Weclowski- 28 tackles 1 int, 5 carries 30 yards and a td.
Lovell- ????? was he sick for that game?
This is a joke, Weclowski is twice the defender lovell will EVER BE!

Anonymous said...

I have a question... Brad Bosman from Riverview, Brett Banks from Airport, TJ Lovell from SMCC, Tyler Baker from Airport, Kyle Burkhardt from SMCC, and Dex Teen from Grosse Ile are the only ones to be on first team or second team on both Offense and Defense... So does this make them the best overall players???

Anonymous said...

Another vote here for Weclowski as DPOY. Without DOUBT....the best defensive player I witnessed all year. He embodied the whole notion of "strap it tight"...as you better be strapped up when he came calling!!

Not a good team, Not a good Defense does not equate to a strike against indivudual performance when that is what the award is for.

This one smells bad....I think the evidence is the sheer number of posts in reference to it and alot of those posts coming from non-Huron fans.....

SITOFN

He never had a pick against smcc

Anonymous said...

Huron Pads their stats, they always give their kids more then what is to be true never, trust them for stats. I guess I would too bringing up the cellar like every year.

Anonymous said...

Some people on here will not stop. They will not stop putting down Tj and Howey. If you want to complain go complain to the Huron League COACHES who voted for them and stop putting them down!

Weclowski/Panonne and Mays were deserving of the awards as well, but thats not how it turned out!

Craig M said...

Just because you have a ton of tackles does not make you the best. A team with an offense that eats the clock will have very low defensive numbers. It is common football sense.

NO your right and rushing yards that don't Mays was just out there to long on off.And rec. yards that don't mean nothing.Interceptions, fumbles,Don't talk stupid.Yes you can give weclowski a few tackles for being on a bad team. But 110 more then tj come on stop BS us.Weclowski has played for ten years both ways LB&TB he's been a captain every year. And his sr. year he played from side line to side line and he out played tj when they played each other.Huron has not seen a LB like him in a long time. And he put up the best year you could ask any kid to do. And they give to a kid who just had a below avg. year.AND howey come on all i here is he didn't need to throw on this team.Well to be a QB you need to be able to throw DA.He's just a fast runner he will go no where in FB for sure not a QB.Mays had this hands down.howey and tj won but it makes the hole league look like a joke that why huron never gets any respect. And remember two kids that did deserve it got screwed.SMCC stop trying to find ways to ok this if you have any honesty in you at all you no im right.Even howey and tj no im right they have have said so there self they think it's funny. (SO SAD)

HURON LEAGUE WHAT A JOKE

Anonymous said...

Ha and who are you to say they even said it because i question it. Is it Howey's fault that his team does not pass? no. But when did you hear them say this because you seem to be an inside source

Craig M...please remember that this is a player, not team award.

Now personally I don't like indivual awards for team play....kinda defeats the purpose.

But lets not confuse what the award is for... INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE.

Anonymous said...

Craig m
MAN you need to stop talking till you no what your talking about.Huron had off. ok there deff. was not on the field all day.
smcc- total rushing yards-2,400
HURON-total rushing yards-1,800
And huron passed witch you guys can't do because you don't have a QB that can throw. So your deff. was out there just as much as huron. And tj still only got 47 tackles theres kids in little league with more then that.So craig m stick to stuff you no like bowling or something like that. They got it wrong and they got it wrong real bad its a fact not a opinion.

Anonymous said...

Howey cant't throw? just because his team doesnt pass often means he cant throw? im pretty sure ive seen him before and the kid actually has a good arm

bloodynutter said...

SMCC doesnt throw because they dont have to! As I recall they beat Airport by 3 TD's and the ability or inability to pass never came into play in that contest. Why pass when you run up and down the field all game long.

Anonymous said...

Yes weclowski did have an interception against cc

Anonymous said...

my point is if howey is a great qb why wouldnt they pass more? yes you can say why pass when you can just run the ball up the field but if you have a qb to throw that will pick up huge chunks of yards why not throw?

Anonymous said...

No wecloski did not have a interception against smcc. 100% positive si i dont know what your talking about

Anonymous said...

your an idiot because yes he did, I was at the game. ask chris

Anonymous said...

i was at the game to, he did NOT have an interception. maybe it was a fubmle recovery or something but i am positive he did not have an interception. Get your facts straight!

Anonymous said...

Jumping on top of the pile after the runner is already down does not constitute a tackle. Huron's defense didn't look impressive to me other wise they would be on top and not the bottom. You can not give a player from the last place team MVP. It is just the way league voting goes.
