Hey everyone, just a quick reminder to let me know tonight's scores as soon as they are finished. I will get the scores up ASAP.

I will be attending the SMCC/Airport game this evening and will have my game summary up about an hour after the game.

If you are attending another game please let me know any info you have so I can get a quick summary up. Just email the details if you can.

Just some quick thoughts on the Airport/SMCC game:

Perhaps this is the biggest regular season game in Airport history. A win tonight puts Airport in for its 11th straight playoff berth, and they will get virtually 2 weeks off after this week with GI and Flat Rock. Flushing will give them a nice test before the playoffs, and a 9-0 record would give the Jets a lot of momentum into the playoffs, where they should be given a tough test in the 2nd round by Melvindale, which could ultimately decide who plays in the state finals. (I know that is very far away, but it is all speculation and a realistic possibility) Losing would be a very deflating loss to the team. While not hurting playoff points, it is a major hurt in psyche, momentum, no 3rd straight league championship without help, etc. Every team in Airport history ultimately gets judged by did they beat SMCC? And if they do tonight, there is a big chance they will be the best team in Airport history.

SMCC has a lot of motivating factors. They are first fueled by revenge, as last year's loss to Airport was the first in 5 years, they were horrific on offense (81 yds, 0 pts). Now they are the underdog, Airport has a lot of confidence going in, a loss tonight could make their playoff chances scary. (They still must play Milan, Jefferson, and DDC, 2 of those would have t be wins, which is doable but difficult). They have not looked as dominant as previous SMCC teams, but they always play Airport hard, and a win in this game could lead them to steamroll to perhaps a state championship.

All that being said, I think it's easy to call this the biggest SMCC vs Airport game in history. The crowd should be interesting due to this whole bleacher situation, they shouldn't be that big of a factor. This makes this a pure battle of football. I think if Airport can play good on special teams, and not give up those big returns SMCC is notorious for, their offense and defense should be rather dominant, and I'd expect a 3 TD win like last year. I think SMCC will return one for a touchdown, because they always find that magic. That being said, I'm taking Airport 28-14, they will be very focused.

I truly wish I could be at the game, problem is plane tickets between Detroit and Chicago cost near $250, so please update this game as much as possible. Now that I analyzed without bias, I have to show a little and root for my old school. GO AIRPORT!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be back in town next week to finally see some football.
