Good picks
Tell me why you would take Teen over Wilson. Both good players wilson seems stronger and tuffer.
And why Jones over Mayrand again both good players but Mayrand just looks like can do more at QB then Jones.Just wondering your thoughts on those players.

I just like Teen a little better as a back. A little faster too!

Jones had a better season than Mayrand. Mayrand was much better as a junior.

Thanks chris i can live with that.

Someone needs to show some love for the Riverview Kicker..22/22 on Extra Pts..Luciani i do believe his name is..I know he had a Field Goal against us..sound kicker!!

ill still take howey over jones any day. better mechanics throwing and alot faster.

rob white was way better then Jones... jones is garbage i know you wont accept this comment but he is soft as a teddy bear

I published your post. I think it was gutless but I'll let it slide.

White had a great season but so did Jones he threw for over 750 yards and ran for over 300 yards. Plus his team was 7-2 and they beat your GI team head to head.

Teen is much tougher to take down and hits the hole much harder than Wilson. Wilson is just a small scat back. Teen can actually take a hit.

I disagree with that statement. Wilson is probably pound for pound the toughest runner in the league. I saw him play four times. He does not go down easily.

How can you say howey throws better he only passed 1 time a game.Ok he's a fast runner that don't make you a QB join track.Jones is the better QB out of those two guys.

Anonymous said...

Howey doesn't pass because they don't need to pass.

Anonymous said...

Sorry but howey is much more than a "track guy" if he was huron league offensive player of the year and first team QB. AND his team won leagues and is the only team still playing. So think before you post on here.

well don't say he;s a great passer because 13 passes don,t tell you crap. And OPOY they had to pick someone from smcc because you won the league.SO wise up he,s not the best QB in the league. He's the best off. player on the best team. do you understand or what. Mays was the best off. player in the league. Im sick of hereing howey doesn't pass because they don't need to shut up. If he could throw they would and that will be why you don't go all the way. They had to pick a def.& a off. player from smcc.Because you won the league thats a rule the huron league coaches agree on.So if you take tj on def. who you going to pick on off.howey (hello)

HL just wondering if you could say exactly why you picked the people you did over the ones the coaches picked? i mean you only had about 3 or 4 different i believe but i was just curious? If you can see that their better, why didnt the coaches?

Huronleaguefootball said...

I don't think I picked them any better than the coaches. The coaches lnow the league better than I do. The coaches go through their process and pick players.

Think of this though. I have nothing to gain or nothing vested in any of these players being picked.

The coaches try to recognize the seniors as much as possible. I am sure that didnt come into the blog owner's criteria whatsoever.

SMCC has 4 JR Offensive lineman.... eat and lift boys, eat and lift!!

Anonymous said...

Anonymous you are wrong when you say if he could pass they will. SMCC's offense has no passing in it whatsoever. Passing isn't their thing. They haven't been passing so a few year now i believe.

I agree with you when you say that if they want to go all the way they need to open it up more.

bloodynutter said...

Many many teams have won state championships without throwing a single pass... Constantine D6(2004) Zeeland West D4(2006) and Menominee D5(2006 & 2007) come to mind and they happen to run very similiar offenses as SMCC. Execution of the plays you run matters most not the type of plays you run.

Anonymous said...

Thats great smcc has no passing in it.Thats why you can't have howey 1st team QB. Theres two QB that did it all run and pass.Howeys 1st team kick returner.

To this poster I just have to ask; Have you even watched Wilson play? If so you'd have never said that right there. Wilson takes more hits then anyone on the Huron Team and he gets right up after being hit and goes right back to that huttle for the next play. Having played on the same team with him, he is a cocky little one and runs off at the mouth, but when we try to shut him up in practice by hitting him hard, he still gets right back up no matter how hard you hit the kid. Wilson might be small, but he's fought Sherwood Harris [290lbs] and beat him. lol and your gonna say he cant take a hit? Keep watching..

I believe the kicker from Riverview (Giavanti?) is a better kicker than Richards of Huron. Not knocking Richards, he is a good multi-sport athlete and great goaler in soccer, but did you see the kid from Riverview kick?
I have seen them both and the Riverview kid has a better leg, maybe the best I saw this season.

Anonymous said...

Again, I think the kid from SMCC was a good return man, but there is maybe no better return guy in the region than Joe Conners of Flat Rock. He had tremendous return yardage when teams were dumb enough or arrogant enough to kick to him. I know you witnessed that during the Huron game. The kid missed a game and a half due to injury, but was still maybe he greatest open field runner in the HR this season.
