Football Wish List

As the Christmas season is upon us I caught a glimpse of the wish list that was given to Santa via the league schools.

Airport is seeking a new coach half as good as Eric Redmond was.

Flat Rock is asking for more players so depth won't be a problem.

Grosse Ile wants a running back to replace the graduating Dex Teen.

Huron seeks a defense full of good tacklers to replace the greatest tackler in Chief history Tyler Weclowski.

Jefferson is looking for Stars that will live up to the high expectations of being a Jefferson Bear.

Milan is asking for continued success as they try and reload once again.

Riverview is seeking patience while Jeff Stergalas rebuilds the once great Pirate program.

SMCC is asking that their new backfield be capable of replacing their departing backfield.

My wish and prayer for everyone of my readers is that we all remember the "REASON for the season", Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas everyone!

Redmond to Monroe

I try to be as detailed as I possibly can on this blog and usually don't report speculation and innuendo but I have received way too many specific details that say Monroe will hire Eric Redmond as their next football coach.

With that said, there are quite a few details that would need to be hammered out to make the move official but it looks like the only thing that would stop the move would be Redmond changing his mind.

I have two thoughts on this subject and they are:

1)Great move by Monroe. Redmond is an excellent coach and the Trojans have the talent to be a Division I power every year. Look for positive changes immediately for the Monroe Football Program.

2)Where does Airport go from here? Redmond is almost irreplaceable. The Airport brass will have a hard time finding anyone than can match what Redmond brought to the table.

Good luck to both programs as they look to move on from here.

Open Forum

Hey everyone! I just thought I would throw a topic out there for so fun discussion.

There are quite a few good returning players coming back next season. Who are some of the players we should look out for that will up their game next season? Please stay away from the obvious players and please try and list school, position and size along with their names.

Fall 2010

Is it too early to be thinking about next years football season? I think not! I'm sure many of the football teams have started lifting already in hopes of football glory in fall of 2010.

Don't forget you gridiron heroes that you can't afford to sit around and wish your way to success. I'm sure many of you are playing winter sports. If not, you probably should be. If you decided to take the winter off let me encourage you not to do the same thing in the spring.

If you don't participate in a spring sport you should consider running track. Most great football players run track. If your a skill guy you should be sprinting and jumping this spring with your school track team. If your a lineman you should be participating by throwing the shotput and discus.

Take a look at some of the tracksters from the Huron League who excel at football; Dex Teen, Jodeci Mays, Joe Conner, Thom Box, Derek Williams, the entire SMCC starting backfield and a host of others.

Year in and year out SMCC, Airport, Milan and Jefferson are considered the "Big Four" in the Huron League in what sport? Football? Yep.... and Track & Field. Good football programs and good track programs go hand and hand.

Remember, don't sit on your butts hoping for success. Many of your opponents are doing other sports preparing to play against you.
