College Bound?

There has been some interest in me posting where some kids are possibly going to play college ball at next year.

I've heard some rumblings but I don't think anything will be a definite until February or so.

I do think there are quite a few players who will be playing DIII ball next year from the league and possibly a few DII players.

If you know or are aware of any info on where some players may be headed feel free to submit it in the comments section.

TJ Lovell (SMCC)...Adrian, Albion, Concordia(they are just starting football), Pennslyvania, North Dakota, South Dakota, North Michigan, and Michigan Tech for football. Most of these schools have gone to SMCC to talk to TJ. I think thats normal though, for people to go to the school. Some of them have talked to Mike Howey has well. I have no idea on what either of them has decided, but do know these schools have contacted TJ and some contacted Mike. TJ also has some hockey teams wanting him. I know this information because I have talked to TJ and his parents.

jefferson has no seniors who will move on.

huron- welclowski and maynard if he got lucky

grosille- Teen for sure

Flack rock- connor if he finds a school to suit him

Milan- Box for sure great stregnth and size

Smcc- Lovell is too tough not to play college ball, Pannone too, is he a senior? and i would think Labeau would have been talked to before Howey.

Riverview- They dont have any Seniors that look like they have a future, but give it a year and Big Brad Bosman will be playin saturdayss.

Airport- Jones will but for baseball and close could just because of his size but he will go baseball alsoo

Anonymous said...

Panonne is not a senior. He's a junior and I thought mayrand(sp?)was a junior as well? Labeau could have gotten talked too, I don't know either way.

Anonymous said...

as far as smcc goes, lovell and howey would be the top recruits because lovell has the size and experince and talent. Howey has the speed and athleticism that colleges could use. His brother plays D1 i believe. Labeau is a solidhigh school player but does not do one thing great. Pannone is a junior

Anonymous said...

Weclowski has said he is considering Northern Michigan and Lake Erie, for DII and i guess there's multiple DIII schools hes gotten offers from.
Mayrand i think is going to go for hockey... but who knows

Anonymous said...

that would be fun to see, weclowski and lovell at northern michigan together. I'm not saying it is, just saying it would be cool to see. And yes howey's brother plays d1. He is at eastern michigan.

Lou Spowells and Tyrone Shallaces plan on attending GVSU.

Anonymous said...

I heard Lovell and Howey the Seniors from CC and that Pannone,Wilson and Collins the Jrs. have been contacted as well.

Anonymous said...

where do Lou Spowells and Tyrone Shallaces go to high school at?

Anonymous said...

Who else from the league has gone on to play college ball over the last 5 years or so?

Anonymous said...

Lots of guessing, but no facts. Otherwise it's all gossip, right? Lots of CC info though!

Anonymous said...

CC info is true. I just don't know where
lovell will decide. He hasn't decided yet.

cc alum said...

Teen has offers from hillsdale, findlay, and saginaw valley state and i believe ferris state.

Lou Spowells= Loose bowels

Tyron Shallaces = Tie your own shoe laces

Anonymous 3:16, whether they are cc fans or not they are just posting information on the topic of the post. People asked Chris if he knew where kids might be going so he posted this to let people post here if they knew anything.

Anonymous said...

Ya Chris is so biased! Makes sense the Airpot fans left though... everyone is leaving them, so why not?

Anonymous said...

CC likes to talk? How about before the airport game when some people were saying that airport was going to kill them? Also it's not just cc posts here someone posted about weclowski and someone posted about teen as well.

Thanks for liking the blog. I'm not sure if people like the blog for the content or the comments.

I would like to think people are here for the content. I have to say though during the offseason I have to rely on comments because of the lack of stuff to write on.

I enjoyed the blog myself more during the season and quite frankly can't wait until August until practice starts.

I will continue to ask questions and try and write relative stuff but it is pretty hard in the dog days of winter.

to anonymous 2:27, just because cc probably ruined your season, doesnt mean you have to blame them for ruining this blog too

Anonymous said...

No school or person ruined this blog. Keep up the good work Chris!

RE: Anonymous said...
To the person who posted at 9:01 thank goodness someone around here isn't scared to voice their opinion... I'm sorry Chris but the truth is cc fans have ruined your blog. Rather you would like to admit this or not it's true. I'm not calling you biased I have no problem with you, you (had) a great site untill cc ruined it.

Do you two want a tissue? howabout a hug and some orange slices?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous at 12:02, it was people saying airport was going to beat cc by 30 or whatever they said. Go back and look. Those who said SMCC was going to win picked them to win in a close game. And nobody ruined this blog. I would be proud to if my team went to the state finals. I'm not from SMCC just so you know. I'm from riverview. Nice job Chris! I like the basketball blog too.

Anonymous said...

So anyway which colleges are looking at players?

Anonymous said...

"to anonymous 2:27, just because cc probably ruined your season, doesnt mean you have to blame them for ruining this blog too"

hmm if this isn't a prime example then I don't know what

OK CC fans have ruined the site... then stop reading and posting and go away. You disprove your point every time you read and post something.

Close Baker and Banks from Airport have been talked to by Defiance College and Adrian College for Football

smokes said...

Airport had shirts printed before the CC game which bragged about how they were going to beat CC. CC should be flattered that Airport went to the trouble to print shirts for the student body. Let the CC students and fans run their mouths - use it as motivation.

Anonymous said...

Wow I see lots has happened since the last time I was on here. People were just commenting on the topic whether it be lovell, weclowski, howey, baker, etc. Who really cares where they are from they are just responding to the post and then cc gets accused of ruining the blog?? Grow up!

Anonymous said...

maybe thats why airport has no money, they wasted it all on shirts bragging on how they think they wil beat smcc.
that didnt pay off

Anonymous said...

Really well thought out post. Airport has no money, because it printed out shirts. Lets take a second to let that soak into your head. Realize how dumb you sound now? Shirts are NOTHING compared to the other problems Airport faces. What $1000 tops for the shirts? Good try pal.

J.W. I think he was being facetious.

ya jw, its a small exmple, think of it on a higher level.

a little offensive, sucks that you cant playt on fridays and now next year when smcc plays you eveyoneeeeeeeeeeeeeeee in the county will be there to watch the same result as the past season now since nobosy else in the region plays on saturdays well besides smcc in the semi finals....

and yes i RUINED this blog with this comment

Anonymous said...

Chris,
Top returners from 1-10 based on last season performance, and how they will do this upcoming year.
#1 being the best through 10

this should get talkin going insted of bickering

Anonymous said...

The school didnt pay for the shirts the people who wanted them bought them, airport didnt just buy a certain amounts worth of shirts and just handed them out to whoever wanted them.

Anonymous said...

or maybe it will end up the way it did when this senior class were juniors an shut cc out 21-0? Wait didn't they get held to only about 90 total yards?? Yea that's right and yes everyone will be watching cc on saturday in the semi finals...but then losing again. Have fun dominating your weak playoff schedule maybe you'll be lucky and get Harper woods again what a game! Sorry you wanna talk bad about teams you'll recurve the same in return...

Anonymous said...

Airport folks still talking about a game in 2008 where CC didnt have their best player... wow, if thats all you have then just posting you are emarrasing your school. You have to have a better win than that one somewhere in your school's history.

Tyler Weclowski was offered a preferred walk-on at Toledo last night. He will be a Rocket in 2010.

Huronleaguefootball said...

Good for Tyler! That will be a nice fit for him. Hopefully he will get a teaching degree and become a teacher/coach.

Anonymous said...

So he will be treated like a full ride player without the ride. If he bulks up they may put him on schollarship after a year or 2.... you put some weight on that kid and look out.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous is Tyler for sure goin there? Is it a done deal? If so that's pretty cool!

Anonymous said...

It wouldn't have mattered if SMCC had Martellis Simon for the game. CC would have still lost 21-0. Airports Defense was DOMINATING!!!
Their were no holes for CC backs that night.

Anonymous said...

your star player wasnt there? oh thats so sad im sorry but its called a football TEAM...and its just not a win in school history airport started alot of the juniors (current seniors) while cc did the same...as far as im concernd airport and cc have lost 1 and won 1 so all of the trash talking can stop

Anonymous said...

SMCC smashed airport in october, who cares about 2 years ago???? what about the last like 7 years or somethin?? isnt smcc like 6-1 against airport. Talk about a gimmie. stop trash talking about a game back in 2008, its 2010 now

Anonymous said...

must be nice to get players from where ever you want...

Anonymous said...

Please explain what you mean by getting players from where ever u want? I'm not even from cc and I just don't get it. There was posts under other topics that said the majority for cc's team went to a catholic grade school so I went to their website to check it out and it's true. Only like 5 didn't. Sure they were from different districts like Monroe, jefferson, airport and even one from Huron but if you go to a catholic grade school you go to a catholic high school most of the time. Yes I know there are exceptions but I think for the most part they go to a catholic high school. And I know people who went to St. Charles grade school
and went to Jefferson for high school, so there is the
exception. There is no catholic/ private high school in the
Jefferson or Airport district so if your catholic where are you
most likely gonna go?? Maybe I'm just being dumb and
stupid right now but I just don't get how you could say "get
players from where ever you want?!?! Sorry about the passing I don't know what happened.

Anonymous said...

I posted at 10:18pm and I meant to say sorry for the spacing, not passing!

Anonymous said...

Yes its true tyler has been offered to be a preffered walk on at toledo, he will play either olb or safety. Great accomplishment, i heard today that tyrone wheatley of eastern michigan is now looking at weclowski also, good stuff.. cant wait to see him playing on saturdays.

Anonymous said...

The chit chat about airport beating CC 21-0 needs to stop. That was then; this is now. The boys is bigger and tougher and faster than they were then and you guys seem to forget this! CC's players mightve gotten bigger and faster since that year making them beat you guys! Get over it. Let the pads do the talking when it comes to the friday night game at CC or the saturday afternoon game at airport.... Airport is NOTHING special nor is CC; all team have special players which make them all good teams; its how they execute and work together which determines a win. CC and Airport are only going to make yourself look like fools arguing over a blog and also when they both show up and get blown out because they did more talking than they did actually doing something. The 2010 year is among us and when it is; you'll see who the tough are from the weak.

c.k

Anonymous said...

I believe the reason that game was brought up is because varsity players will play a team twice once their junior year and once their senior year...and yes cc has gotten stronger and faster since then but airport has improved as well? Airport fans are just sick of hearing about who beat who this year...I may have aggreed with you if he was talking about a game back in 1983 but this was this years varsity Teams game sorry but this is the truth

Anonymous said...

Look.....Chris deleated the blog posted at 9:01! Censorship at it's finest to protect CC!

Anonymous said...

Good for Weclowski, but I was hoping he'd go play somewhere where he could see the field. He'll most likely be red-shirted, then possibly sniff special teams as a sophomore. Remember Adam Tedora from SMCC who went to Toledo? Tough kid, just not fast or big enough. Played all special teams, but that was it. Weclowski will get bigger, but won't be fast enough. Good Luck. I also thought he could get money (scholarship) going to a DII School. Hopefully his academics will get him some $$ at Toledo!

HuronLeagueMan said...

who has played college ball in the past from the huron league?

Anonymous said...

2008 first team all-leaguer nose guard Garrison Diehl to play at Bluffton University next fall (SMCC)

Anonymous said...

many many players have played in college over the years from the HL. You have to refine your criteria a bit.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous at 8:40 pm, Mike Howeys brother Niel(sp) Howey is playing at eastern michigan. I'm sure there are others too I just cat remember.

Anonymous said...

Thom Box will make the biggest impact.

Anonymous said...

Didnt Ron LaBeau play at like Michigan or something?

Anonymous said...

A couple of former Huron leaguers who are in college now... I just know about Milan but gunderson is at Michigan, the older box is at western, love is at Robert Morris, chie at Adrian... There are more but those are a few off the top of my head...

Anonymous said...

milan hasten is going to norther. boxs is going to wayne state. then i think there is 2 or 3 more doing D3.
