Looks like the Airport, Milan game was an awesome one! Anyone have any details yet??? One thing is for sure, it looks like the league title will come down once again this year to the Airport/SMCC game this year!!!! I think SMCC prevails in that game because I don't think the Jets will be able to stop them.

the milan/airport game was a very good game sorry you missed it chris

Huronleaguefootball said...

Topo was there. We should have coverage shortly.

Anonymous said...

why wasnt my brief summary of the crazy airport milan I wrote a few minutes ago not allowed? It's not like what a side is going to ruin anything, there gonna find out about the game anyhow

Anonymous said...

Airport-Milan was one for the ages. I have followed Airport football for a long time, and Jodeci Mays has to rate as the best back in school history. The way he has carried this young team has been unbelievable. Airport got a gift when #7 dropped what woulda been the game winner with 3 seconds left, he was so open it was crazy. That's the way the ball bounces I guess.

Anonymous said...

even though riverview lost, their student section is straight up crazy!!!!

Huronleaguefootball said...

I didn't like the comment about the kid, sorry!

Anonymous said...

riverviews student section is rude and unsportsman like. when smcc played them last week they kept yelling bull**** at the players and the calls on the field. I cant believe they are able to act that way. They should get some sort of punishment for acting like that and from the sounds of the previous poster they were no different this week.

Anonymous said...

Huron is for real this year!

how bout them good old smcc falcons here is a highlights of there game!!! http://www.youtube.com/user/BBnumber9#p/a/u/2/quD1cxOy_iM

smcc pulled thier starters after the third quarter ha.

Milan/Airport was one great football game. Both teams played huron league football and smashed each other in the mouths all night long. If you could give a W out to both teams, this would be one of those games. Congrats to Airport, and we should have a fun 3 way battle for the rest of the year in the league.

Anonymous said...

And sorry, I hate to disagree, but I still think this is the same huron team from last year. They can put up points, but when push comes to shove they wont show up. Without a defense, they wont win a thing.

Anonymous said...

Brennan had 4 tds not 2

Anonymous said...

the airport vs. milan game was amazing. best high school football game ive ever seen. idk what the hype was about leo pittman. he didnt do much. i was impressed though with joe dunn. he ran the ball hard. but not as hard as airport jodeci mays. he read the field very well and made some big plays. easily the biggest threat in the huron league. airports defense could of been a little better but overall very good game. GO JETS!! next win is jefferson baby

Huronleaguefootball said...

I realized I'm not the best writer but in the first paragraph I write that Brennan caught two touchdowns.

Then late in the article I wrote that he rushed for two along with his yardage.

Anonymous said...

2 losses against Huron for Cisco in a row. And this stud Jeff team, weren't they supposed to be one of the teams to beat this year? All talk and no pads I guess.

Anonymous said...

BUMP-O-METER was in full effect last night on the island. There chest-bumps up and down the field as the Devils prevailed in bringing home the Colvin Cup!

I'm glad they didn't put the KA-BOSH on the chest bumps. We're fired up, and have the offensive power to be a factor down the stretch.

Last week it was the passing attack, last night the running attack.

BUMP-ON and believe.

Anonymous said...

correction on smcc...The starting defense was pulled after the first quarter.. and only put in for 2 more series in the third one series was a one play fumble and the other was a 7 play punt....

Anonymous said...

"And sorry, I hate to disagree, but I still think this is the same huron team from last year. They can put up points, but when push comes to shove they wont show up. Without a defense, they wont win a thing."

They're still 3-1. Old man will work on that defense and figure out where the mistakes are being made, and who's not pushing the ball backwards. After monday's video procession, the defense will get switched up.

Anonymous said...

So Chris - since your picking Jefferson over Airport this week, whats your prediction on a score??

Huronleaguefootball said...

Be patient, my picks don't come out until mid-week.

Anonymous said...

am i the only one noticing that week after week CC brags about when their starters came out?

Anonymous said...

Yeah ive noticed that too, lots of teams pull their starters out and give up points because of it. Its football so dont feel special and need to point it out CC we know.

Anonymous said...

Yea they do talk about their starters coming out. As if it's really something important right? Especially the HUGE GAME AGAINST FLATROCK! Ego stroke is all.

Nice to see Huron and Grosse Ile win on another note. SITOFN should have a more active week on the blog. When does Huron play Grosse Ile?

j.w.

Huronleaguefootball said...

I believe Huron already played Grosse Ile.

Anonymous said...

Firstly, let me say I think it's one poster "always" pointing out when the starters come out for smcc, I guess it's important to him. Second thing, I think I noticed 3 priests on the sidelines for last nite, now is that fair?!

Anonymous said...

To the Bump o meter post. I bet the a.d. told the coach not to have the players out there chest bumping. Then the coach told the players that they shouldn't. BUT they still did and those players were not benched. AD and admin. should come down on coach and players for not following orders. Again it comes down to coaching and when they don't follow the rules why should the players.

Other than that, Good win to GI from a off island follower.

Anonymous said...

The real question is if those priests were doing chest-bumps. I wonder if the bishop sent them a memo telling them to chill out on having too much fun at the game.

Anonymous said...

Airports Derek Andersons single season record of 1,840 yards rushing set in 1999 may be broken this year. Although in his career he had about 5,000 yard rushing total so the career rushing record will probably be safe for quite some time.

Anonymous said...

Riverveiw has one hell of a student section! Megaphones, beads, babypowder, chants... everything that an awesome croud should have, they have! Now if their football team could help them out...

Anonymous said...

Hmmmm... let me see. CC had what looked like 54 players on their sideline, and I believe only 1 soph on their roster, so even if all starters were pulled which are probaly seniors, still leaves about 27 juniors playing against our 20 total, mainly sophomores. Point being, don't break your arm patting yourself on your back.

Anonymous said...

The Bears is an appropriate nickname, cause the Jefferson fans have seemed to go into hibernation. They sure had alot to say in preseason.

Anonymous said...

You actually counted all the players on CC's sideline? lol WOW! Just a funny image of a guy in the stands looking over at the other teams players and counting. 1-2-3-4- ooops did I count him? 5-6-7. funny.

Id's day CC starts 14 seniors 7 juniors and 1 soph. It's hard to tell though. They go in and out a lot.

Anonymous said...

Are we really going to complain about student sections being wild and unsportsman-like ? It's a rivalry game.. I don't see why they wouldn't be saying what they say...

Anonymous said...

"The Bears is an appropriate nickname, cause the Jefferson fans have seemed to go into hibernation. They sure had alot to say in preseason."

good one and so true.

Anonymous said...

The GI AD doesn't make any decisions. Any direction comes from above. If the superintendent told the AD to tell the team to lay off the chest bumping then the coach might have a problem.

But if the parents want the chest-bumping, then the Super will relent and we have chest-bumping for all, win or lose.

But yes, there is a definite lack of communication. And a definite lack of discipline. But who really pulls the strings?

Anonymous said...

Um for all you people complaining about Riverview's student section can go cry about it. They're being supportive and trying to help their boys out and getting them pumped up. At the game against SMCC when they yelled bull sh*** was because that was a bs call! Im sorry but they need to keep on doing what they're doing. GO PIRATES!

Anonymous said...

Last I checked cc and rivervew are not even close to being rivals. The student section is ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

CC's rival is Jefferson and nobody else.

Anonymous said...

SMCC should not complain about anybody's student section...SMCC's student section and teams, inparticular their baseball team are rude and obnixious. I would love to see those baseball players put on some pads so my son could knock them on their a$$e$...

anonymous said...

i go to riverview, i was at that game. we were absolutely wrecking gi's crowd, i didnt even notice they had a student section. yes, we were losing. yes, we lost. so? we're supportive, and we go straight crazy at football games. everyone in our student section is crazy, freshman-seniors. we all had no voices left, literally. chants - started by freshman-seniors. im proud to go riverview, and you can rest assured that our student section is and will be the best this year. i personally lost my voice before the 3rd quarter ended.

Anonymous said...

Riverview should actually win a football game to help out their intense student section.

Michael said...

To the person who posted about smcc's baseball team being rude (or whatever was said) many of the baseball players play football so your son either has had or will have ample chance to knock them on their asses as you put it. Relax your kid is playing the sports now not you. Let them enjoy THEIR high school experience you had your chance.
I have talked to many of SMCC's rival school players, they are all good kids. It is a rivalry, period nothing else. I wish them all luck just not when they play my sons team. Be realistic it is just high school sports it will be over and meaningless after their senior year. Then true life kicks in, your school from which you graduate will NOT matter.

That's funny. More than half of CC's starters on the baseball team are starters on the football team. so they have most likely put your son on his butt, or will be in the near future.

Anonymous said...

CC knocks people on their butt? I thought they ran hard the opposite way of their defender for fear of ruining their jersey? Must have learned how to lay a shoulder sometime this summer..

Every CC parent/fan that I talked to felt bad for FR friday night.

Don't let less than 1% of CC fans that say ignorant things on here get to you.

FR enrollment is what?,,,,700+, and only 20+ kids go out for football!

Only FR can fix that!!!

Anonymous said...

What's up with all of the parents posting this season? It sure has gone up from last year. Complaining about the coaches, players, fans, student sections, 'chest bumps', etc... For real your years of HLF is over so let's not talk through our kids here moms and dads.

SITOFN said...

Chest-bump-0-meter was spinning like a slot machine.

GOOD....hopefully that's a sign that the the GI football team will actually play as a TEAM. The proof is in the puddin' boys... Milan next week, we'll see!? Chest bumping (celebrating) losers are just that.

Defense may have found their chin straps but too many other straps need tightening up. Lotsa hitters on the pine strapped-up and ready....keep the troops fresh coach. A top gun is up next...... Defense GI, YOU GOTTA LEARN TO LOVE IT!

Offense has a new horse to ride so all the passing weapons WILL be even more dangerous when needed... Keep running the ball COACH B, it'll only make the passing attack even more potent (like it needs any help)! #27is a HORSE...give-em the pigskin.

Cold front coming through but no storm clouds on the horizon...Yet?

To the poster who said FR has 700+ students, you are far off. Check your facts first, they are at about 500, and have been so for awhile. check the MHSAA website for actual count, but it is nowhere near 700.

Also, the nature of SMCC would lend itself to the fact that more students would be involved and more would be student-athletes than at Flat Rock. People who pay tuition are most definitely going to have students who are more involved, nothing wrong with that, just a fact.

Flat really seems in a down cycle right know when you look at football, and basketball. Lots of public schools go through up and down cycles.

FR will see better days.

Anonymous said...

No I would not waste my time attempting to scroll through your sideline, nor would I approach each individual kid and ask what class he is, and even though CC doesn't have a field of their own they have invested in STATE OF THE ART MODERN TECHNOLOGY called a ROSTER. Cmon now, you pay 8000.00 dollars for an education....USE IT! I also believe FR has around 450 students in which we pull a total of 40-50 players each year between jv and varsity. 10% of the total....not that bad but could be better.

Anonymous said...

Flat Rock's enrollment sits at 598, up 100 from 2003. Good sign for the Rams. Most schools are declining in numbers and they seem to be on the rise.

I agree with SITOFN and the GI Defense.... Many players not seeing the field. Keep it fresh since we will need it next week.

We have enough O to keep us in the game every week, but Milan will pound our D like no other.

Our O has a new look. Totally kept the view guessing on which way the ball was coming. If we needed yards we will be able to get them on the ground or in the air. In my opinion #27 carried the game. Milan will be our biggest test so far this year.

This may be the funniest post ive ever seen. hey just so we know smcc hasnt lost a league game in 2 years since jefferson in 08. they run the power T therefore they have plenty of chances to knock people on the butt for you. If you are running the power T and cant lower a shoulder every now and then. 1. being the smallest school in the league, wins would be minimal and hard to come by 2. Youre just wrong, and that is why they are 45-7 in league play since installing the offense in 2003. haha

Craig M said...

To comment on the Riverview fans: Inappropriate? NO. Rowdy? YES. They are trying to get excited. They are trying to pump the team up. They are trying to help out any way that they can.

Now to answer the "BS" chant against CC. It was in response to a HORRIBLE call. I think that even the officials own mother would have been in the chant. The refs in the riverview/CC game were horrible for both teams. The only good thing is that they were consistently horrible.

Although, I did not see any "chest bumping" in the stands.

As for the Riverview GI game. What a second half of football. I hate to see my team lose, but they did not go down without a fight.

Anonymous said...

No offense GI but wasn't Huron a test that you didn't pass?

I don't see any argument against 48-12.

Anonymous said...

'Cc looked to have 54 players on their sideline'

Worded that way sir you made it sound like You counted each player. Didn't mean to offend.

Anonymous said...

GI #27 didn't play in the Huron game, it showed via the ground game and the offense was absent. No excuse, just a counter-point.

Can't argue the 48 points against though!

Anonymous said...

correction, riverviews student section is amazing so dont hate because we have way more support for our team than your 10 person student section

Anonymous said...

well to whoever was fighting about riverview and smcc baseball. who went to quarter-finals last year and whos gonna win the league this year? yah probably riverview.

love dearly, "GAMC"

ok first riverviews student section is the best student section in 10 years our football players need to get pumped up and love the support we go crazzyyy !!! and we do it in a respectable wee never call out any single player

Do you think the GI Grid Iron president actually talks to GI coach, or does he just post on here? If he is talking to him, does that mean that the GI coachi is actually reading this blog, and if he is, is going to coordinate his game plan with what he reads here.

Or on the other hand does GIGI pres just feel better by venting here, sounding like he really knows what he is talking about.

I'm all for freedom of expression, but isn't it a bit demeaning to the coaching staff talking directly, or indirectly, to them thru a blog?

Anonymous said...

To the poster who said FR has 700+ students, you are far off. Check your facts first

Here we go, another blogger who can't read. I said, "enrollment is what?,,,700+

Am I stating a fact, or asking a question?

If there is anything I hate about this blog, it is the people who start typing before they think!

And man, there are alot of them!

Anonymous said...

I guess a better strategy would have been saying, "I just don't have any idea how many students attend Flat Rock." By using the number 700, we all seem to think that you implied the number was somewhere near 700.

Being off by 15% isn't the worst sin you could have comitted, but somehow thinking you are in any way intellectually superior is probably a big mistake.

Guessing, typing before you think...kind of the same thing....I guess??

Riverview may suck at football but their student section makes up for the lack of effort on the field! Wish I had that much fun as a kid!

Anonymous said...

Honestly why should Riverview get some sort of punishment for their behavior? It's the flipping student section, who cares. Go to a college game, and you tell me how that situation is! Are you going to tell however so many people in the stadium to stop it? Quit complaining, it's football. It's part of the game.

to the comment that said riveriew's student section makes up for 'the lack of effort on the field', you're an idiot if you honestly think those boys aren't giving they're 100% effort.

lol, adults thinking their opinion matters.

Anonymous said...

Honestly, all you haters on Riverview leave us alone, you cant even come close to our level of intenseness that we bring in the stands.

Anonymous said...

@ whoever said riverview sucks at football, you suck, youre an idiot. theyre playing their hearts out every game, and me and the whole student section are there to support them the entire game. in case you didnt notice, were crazy.

Yep Riverviews baseball coach did come from SMCC, in fact we have a few Coaches and teachers from there bit they sure are sporting Maroon and Gold and doing it proudly!!! They are Pirates!!!!

Anonymous said...

Oh and remember their parents chose for them to attend SMCC and THEY chose to come to Riverview !!! Hmmmm...

riverview's student section is the best ever! i looove all my seniors we know how to have a good time and keep it rowdy. if we dont have a good football team atleast we have a good student section. no other school can compare to us bc were one of a kind! gooo pirates!
