Offensive Player of the Year Poll

Voting is now up for the pre-season offensive player of the year. I will leave the voting open for 4 days. Feel free to comment on who or why in the comment section .

Flat Rock's Michael Blosser ran for 624 yards and 4 touchdowns as a sophomore last season for the 0-9 Rams. The 5-11 200 lb junior RB has many Flat Rock faithful hoping for a turn around this season.

Grosse Ile's Alex Kish boast the best returning numbers of any running back in the league. Kish ran for 730 yards and 9 touchdowns last season for the 4-5 Red Devils. Kish has a rare combination of size and speed which has attracted Division I and II recruiting interest.

Airport's Brandon Potcova led the Jets to a playoff birth last season as a sophomore. Potcova threw for 858 yards and 7 touchdowns while running for another 9 scores. The junior QB will lead the Jets to what many Airport faithful hope will be a Huron League title.

Grosse Ile's Rob White was a unanimous 1st team All League selection last season as a junior. White put up some gawdy numbers in the Red Devils high powered offense. White threw for 1689 yards and 16 touchdowns a season ago while rushing for another 547 yards and 16 touchdowns. For his career White has thrown for 2799 yards and 30 touchdowns.

If you think another player might step up this season let everyone know who it is.

Kish only played 6 games last year due to injury and had the numbers to make this list. If he is healthy he will get it. If not it will go to White.

kish played 8 games.

Blosser should have a break out year as a Junior. My vote is for him!

did jodeci sign in the SEC?? I thought those schools were interested??

Gibbons, From Riverview..and the marcus samuels kid from the view

That list helps to prove the league is probably a bit down from prior years. Maybe a new comer will shine? The league is there to be had and in my opinion there are 4 teams that have a very legitimate shot at winning it(Airport, Riverview, GI and SMCC)

Kish maybe...From what I remember scouting GI. Kish didn't miss a complete 3 games. I know that he did not play against Huron and he played less than one quarter of the Airport game. I know that they played Ida after us and do not believe that he played there. So call it he missed 2 3/4 games....

No to Blosser, No to White as OPY

Yes to Potcova. He has what it took to be a star as a sophomore. He will be even better this year. Made it to the playoffs...White, Kish or Blosser did not do that. Winning season White, Kish and Blosser did not do that.

Kish sat for the Huron game and the Ida game and only played for the first quarter of the Airport game last year due to injury and yet had those numbers. If he stays healthy this year he will have the numbers

Does CC have any talented players? Whose there qb, how about backs. The only player that I know on cc thats returning is the right tackle.

Zack Crespi - Huron QB
He's going to surprise a lot of teams this year. Super intelligent with a very strong arm.

Anonymous said...

Potcova will carry more of the load this year with a year under his belt. If he was in a GI style offense he would be the handsdown favorite. I say him or White. EM

In a little over four hours flat rock has there late practice correct?

Mitch Lehmann most likely will be QB. Brandon Adler could possibly be there toughest RB.

Time will tell.

How about the combination of knoch and blosser?

Shumake and jones?

Kish and White..

I'm sorry but where do we get off putting a kid up there from a team who went 0-9 and only ran for 7 touchdowns and not even 700 yards, yeah he was a sophomore but c'mon is the league that bad on talent this year? I mean the "big" combo of blosser and knoch didnt even register a first down the the first half last year against Riverivew. Nor did they score against Milan, Huron, Riverview, or Jefferson and 1 touchdown was scored against CC, Airport . Mostly all of their touchdowns were scored against G.I. Erie Mason, and Ida, nothing really much to show. He's just an AVERAGE running back in the league. Talk about hyping it up a little bit. Sorry didnt mean to call him out but I just dont agree.

Please suggest another back who had his stats or better last season that is returning.

I will gladly put that person up.

white has scored 51 total touchdowns in his career and almost 4,000 total yards. He has to be the favorite

It's got to be White. He is the only kid in the league who has an offense set up around him. There are other good players, but they're just pieces of their offensive puzzle.

Coach B at GI will have to try and balance who gets the ball....boy would most coaches love to have that problem.

Mr. Whites gaudy #'s are partly due to the fact he's been a 4 year starter....lots of chances to touch the pigskin (every offensive play for 4 years...sans injuries). He is a great QB, I just wanted to "gage" the numbers a bit.

Mr. Kish was hurt last year and still posted full season style #'s. He had to wait his turn for the Teen years to clear.... Bigger and faster this year too. If he gets copious touches...he wins it.

Either could be OPTY but dependant on how pass happy coach B gets... or maybe a surprise sprouts up?? I think it would be fun to see a surprise and good for the league, but not likely.

Now only if GI could generate this kind of discussion on D....I'll remain eternally optimistic (Kish a defender??..the Alongi bro's bring it too).

i agree with hl fan, other teams have been running the same offense for year(which is a sign of a good program) but white is the only player who the coach made to offense to fit his skill set. However i dont see grosse ile making the playoffs, offense wont win you games, rember grosse scored 56 points on jefferson and lost!

Anonymous said...

I'm not voting him as the OPY but if the QB from Milan coming back? I remembered he had an injury last season and wasnt sure if he could play any word?

Blosser only had 4 Touchdowns ! Check the stats !

who are the alongi brothers? Do they own a deli?

Just kidding dont get to offended people I'm an italian myself. What position do these kids play?

Huronleaguefootball said...

That is what I said, four touchdowns.

Anonymous said...

The new qb from milan. Justin Aceves. Junior. Dual threat. Jv year he had 17 touchdown. could pop up this year?

Anonymous said...

What kind of offense is Milan running this year. Read that Hoskins is changing from what Robb had.

Anonymous said...

I cant name another back because the league LACKS in talent this year at the running back position and pretty much overall. Sorry I typed wrong 4* touchdowns, trying to add more the the HYPE.

Anonymous said...

Michael Howey to Western Michigan as a WR?? Please explain how that works?

Anonymous said...

I call averaging 8 yards a carry, talent. 4 backs on one team will have that average.

Huronleaguefootball said...

Speed!

Anonymous said...

Who are you talking about when you say....I call averaging 8 yards a carry, talent. 4 backs on one team will have that average.

Who are these backs?

Anonymous said...

Once teams hit the field you will see someone come out of the cloud. Wouldn't be surprised if the Huron QB isn't in the hunt. Big smart kid.

Anonymous said...

Adler, Ucci, Regalado, Lehman

Anonymous said...

Add Blanchett to the above 4 names

Who?????? Teams?????

Anonymous said...

What team would have 4 backs with 8 yards per carry? IT can only be one school.

Anonymous said...

Ok mystery person I don't read mystery novels - sorry these names not familiar to me - again I say Who??? and What team???

Anonymous said...

Just because youre on that team doesnt mean we know them. It's a little embarassing when nobody knows who they are and your calling they will all average 8+ ypc. Well I guess now we just wait for the season to start.

Still working on defense. The league was so senior oriented last season. I have three or four names but I'm still researching. You can email suggestions.
