A great game by both Milan and Airport. Best game I have watched this entire season! Congrats Big Reds!!!

I enjoyed the Grossed Ile game.

The playoffs are different.

Nice to learn that lesson in victory than in defeat.

Congratulations to SMCC for beating a middle school team.

Anonymous said...

Airport Jets played their best playoff game in recent history. Proud of that effort. Thanks for the entertainment this year boys. Good job Milan. You'll get it figured out for the next round.

"Congratulations to SMCC for beating a middle school team."

stay classy

Chris enjoyed the Grossed ile game, whew I was worried you didnt.

Huronleaguefootball said...

CP's coach was pretty entertaining.

Huronleaguefootball said...

GI parents were entertaining too!

Anonymous said...

Yea real smart-CC seams to beat a lot of "Higher Division-Middle School" teams in their league every single year don't they?

bloodynutter said...

Was he in a white suit?

WOW Consortium beats Madison Heights 8-3. Means another home game for the Falcons!

Anonymous said...

Home game for SMCC next round. Madison heights lost 3-8 to Detroit Consortium.

Anonymous said...

If you went to the SMCC game you would not be calling the other team a middle school team. They were solid all the way around. Very quality team. They will do well every year.

Anonymous said...

Really Airport?? Nice way to go out. And Airport parents starting fights with Milan parents? If they are raising their kids like that no wonder there was a fight on the field. Nice job by the refs and Hoskins getting it broke up. Milan kids good job!!! You deserved that win.

Anonymous said...

"CP's coach was pretty entertaining."
Yes, but...CP's coach needs to learn to keep his cool! After his 15 yarder his team followed with another two or three in a row, leading to the game being called with 40ish seconds left. Win with class and lose with class.

GI game was great...CP QB is the real deal with an arm. Threw DARTS all night....didn't like contact though which makes him a low D1 (MAC) or D2 player at best. Still a great talent, possibly the best pure throwing QB I've ever seen in the preps.

GI D won the game with 4 picks and some great stops late. GI O fouled a plug in the second half and stalled badly, but moved the ball effectively in the first half.

CP was a better team than all but Marine City last year....dodged a BIG BULLET tonite.

BIG STORM BREWING ON GI, no...not the one on the east coast!!! Nuff talk about last year, I think this GI team is better than last year.

Where the *#$@ were the fans?? GI stadium was empty at the start of the game and CP MAYBE had 20 fans there....WTF!!??

Game turned ugly in the end and was stopped by refs. CP wanted Pass interference and showed pathetic sportsmanship when they didn't get it...and shouldn't have. Crying shame the CP reaction......

Milan...please stop with all the garbage chatter on the blog. I let it go till now, Air showed that your mouths are bigger than your game is. GI damn near beat you too...so button it up and work harder next week, no gimmie for Red machine. In the end, a Good win for Milan.

SMCC...good win and keep it rolling, looks like the O needs a quarter or 2 to warm up. Future rounds won't afford you that luxury.

Air, I called a close game if you brought the D again, and you did. Nice job but Milan pulled it out.

HL rolls 3 team to next round...AWESOME JOB BOYS, as George on Seinfeld would say, "lets get nuts" again next week!!

Airport played one heck of a game, just coming up a little short. Good luck to Milan, GI and CC next week. A very good chance we have 3 district champions. EM

hey Nutter how can SMCC lose 2 MHM if they didnt advance ???? good thing we didnt give up .go falcons

Anonymous said...

Said it last night, CP is a good football team. Better than Douglass and Pennfield last year. Strong , big and physical. It appeared to me they started to wear GI defense down in 4th quarter. Gotta do more and better with the defensive substitutions. CP had some really good players and this was a quality win for GI.

Anonymous said...

Milan gets home game also. Good luck against Tecumseh.

SMCC, god looking out for ya, Madison Heights and Clinton upset. Road ahead looks good.

Good luck GI, on the road, bring it home for the Huron league.

Great showing Boys, Monroe and Bedford gone, Huron League still ticking.

Anonymous said...

Milan drove the ball up and down the field on Airport, and the defense shut them down. Costly penalties and dropped passes hurt them in the red zone.

Anonymous said...

Milan needs to really step up against Tecumseh. I wasn't at Milan/Airport game but it sounds like Milan should've scored more??? Unless Airport made a complete turn-around for playoffs. SMCC will go VERY far in playoffs. Good luck to all!

Anonymous said...

Bwahahahaha, you have to admit its true and you gotta love the honesty of the post that congratulated cc. At least they congratulated CC that's classy lol

Anonymous said...

I doubt it!!!!!

Anonymous said...

WTH are you talking about??? Not one AIRPORT PARENT was involved!!!!! Now if it was your parents (the Milan parents) it wouldn't surprise anyone in the league. You have a terrible reputation for causing trouble!!!!!

Anonymous said...

When did nutter say give up?

Anonymous said...

Issue at Milan since Airport rushed the QB while taking knee. After the 2d time and tech against Airport, coach had to tell team to stand and not rush.

bloodynutter said...

If you use my silly predictions as motivation then go for it. I would really love to see all 3 teams win a title. I still think all 3 lose in the district final though.

I didn't see any ugliness between Milan and Airport parents, unless it was toward the parking lot behind the visitor's side bleachers. I exited toward the High School and saw nothing but a bunch of relieved Milan fans and families.

The ugliness on the field, as has been noted, was due to Airport's D playing hard until 0:00 while Milan was taking a knee. This has been a contentious issue this season even in the NFL (Giants-Buccaneers) with different viewpoints being debated on the subject.

I don't know the details, but I'll thank both teams' coaches, players, and the game's officials for not allowing things to escalate to the levels that were seen in Ann Arbor two weeks ago.

At this point in the contest, the game was decided, even with 15 yards tacked on or taken away at the end. Any penalties only changed where Aceves took his final knee. As a Milan fan, I was more worried about a player getting hurt or suspended for future playoff games, or for actions of players and coaches to reflect poorly on my community.

Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed and we're left talking about a heck of a football game instead of something much worse.

SMCC has alot of good folks over there, but, it just doesn't seem fair that they can move down to D6 and play. Most of the Huron League could move to D6 and be successful in the playoffs.
Private schools do not have the same rules as the public schools and should play in a division all their own. It is a giant advantage to play up and then take on lesser teams. Makes SMCC raise their own bar. They should be in a league with Dundee, Grass Lake, Manchester.
Just saying something should change.

Great to see Milan and GI still going.

bloodynutter said...

DO you have a dog in this fight? Or are you just fighting for all that is good and holy?

SMCC hasnt won a state title since they have gone to 8 divisions. So your arguement is lost on me.

Why dont you complain about all the schools that have won MULTIPLE titles before you cry unfair over a team that hasnt won one single title since 1991.

Some of the schools I would be talking about are Mendon, East Grand Rapids, Chrystal Falls Forest Park, Farmington Hills Harrison, Rockford, Ithaca, Muskegon...guess what these schools have in common.... THEY ARE PUBLIC.

You should know of what you speak before you deminish the work of young men.

Anonymous said...

Yes SMCC risks not getting to 6 wins by playing the very toughest of schedules of any D6 team in the entire state.

Anonymous said...

SMCC has had more playoff success than any team in our region. What I stated is obviously why. The Harrisons and East Grand Rapids' are excellent programs that mostly play within their division. They do not move down 3 to 4 divisions for playoffs.

Cudos to them getting the 6 wins to qualify. That is an achievement.

The point is they gear up for this higher competition every year and come playoff time there is not much competition until the very end.
I guess if schools around here continue to allow it, then they will continue to do it. There really are no rules against this, but knowing the system, it seems unfair. They obviously get the cream of the crop with the kids because they pay to go there. So they should play other schools where kids pay to go there. Its not apples to apples.
There currrently is a big buzz at SMCC to hopefully not gain to much more enrollment, because it many move them up a division or class and ruin all this lower division success. Do you think Riverview, Airport and Milan were worried about this, NO, they were happy to have the kids to bring in more money for their school district.

Tricks of the trade I guess. If it works, do what you got to do.

Anonymous said...

Lol what ?

Anonymous said...

"There is a big buzz" to not gain Enrollment so they won't move up to D5? You must be close to the situation. Tell us more. I'm pretty sure CC dodges nobody. Take a look at their non league schedule over the years for proof. Please tell us more, we are listening.

Current SMCC enrollment is 437.
Current cut-off is 449. This is for the classes A,B,C,D.

Football playoff divided differently top 256 teams divided into 8 divisions of 32. No-way SMCC is below 160 in state to allow them to play in Division 6. Should be 3 or 4 at least. Football dividing goes by wins and point value. NOT enrollment.

There are many skeptics out there as to how this is done, Volleyball is same kind of thing, How does Dundee and IDA end end in a district with Adrian, Airport and Tecumseh?? where SMCC is in a District with Erie Mason, Whiteford and Summerfield.

I will quit harping on this, not much most of us can do about it, just stating some things as I learn about them.

I'm sure someone will have issues with this, I'm just giving my opinion. It is what it is.

Huronleaguefootball said...

Nice conspiracy theory. There is indeed 254 teams in football. SMCC just so happens to fall into the top enrollment of D6 which potentially puts 95 schools smaller than them and 160 schools above them.

The difference for volleyball is that Ida and Dundee are class B along with Adrian. Adrian's enrollment is 872 while Dundee's is 476 and Ida's is 503. Class B is from 449-910. 190 schools fall into Class B.

bloodynutter said...

Not sure where you get your info from.

256 teams "qualify" for the playoffs. Those 256 are divided into 8 divisions of 32 based on ENROLLMENT. Nothing more.

SMCC has fallen into the 6th smallest chunk of 32(D6) since this playoff format's inception.

Not sure how that is confusing whatsover. I am not even sure what you are suggesting either.

Chris can you help me understand what he doesnt?

bloodynutter said...

I guess cc would fall into the 6th LARGEST chunk, not smallest.

bloodynutter said...

For volleyball... SMCC is class C and Ida is class B. Not sure where your confusion lies.

Anonymous said...

I got my info from the MHSAA, I do understand how it works and have a problem with it, but, its just my opinion. Whatever. Not here to argue with you Nutty Butter. Obviously your a CC fan.

I have been around here my whole life, not sure if you have, but when CC won the state title in class B in 1991, that was great and very respectable. As is should be.

Now-a-days with this Class CC or division 6 stuff, its pretty much BS. Ask Joe Sanderson his thoughts
sometime.
Good luck out there Nutty Butter.

bloodynutter said...

Its spelled Sandersen and I have talked to him about it.

He did not like it when MCC played up a class. That was Spas' doing.

Not sure if you have a dog in this fight? Who are you taking up for?

I may be reading into this but it sounds like sour grapes.

bloodynutter said...

and they havent won one since 91... not sure what your beef is.
