Country Day @ Milan

Milan (4-4) defeated Airport 45-27 while DCDS (4-4) fell to Muskegon CC 30-0. These two teams have met twice over the years with each team winning one game.

Milan has won two straight games after dropping three straight. The running game has picked up while the defense has done just enough.

This is not a vintage DCDS team, but the Yellow Jackets have played a tough schedule. Although they have only one quality win, there are some players capable of making big plays.

Both teams need a win this game to give them a shot at the playoffs. A DCDS win should give them enough points to get in at 5-4. Milan may need some help with a win to get into the playoffs, but the opportunity is there. Prediction: DCDS 27 Milan 21

Two 4-4 teams fighting for their playoff lives. Should be an entertaining game!

CD is much better than their record. Every team they lost to was in the state title game in their division last year. Loyola, Brother Rice, and Muskegon CC are all favorites to win it all this year. Zeeland West is a top team in D-3 as well.

Milan has their hands full.

Country Day is solid, but with all due respect, they were blown out in each of those losses. Loyola and MCC are division 7 and 8. Their wins a suspect at best wiith the exception of UD Jesuit.

I think DCDS still wins, but they strike fear in nobody from Milan.

It's hard to judge DCD because it would appear they beat the teams they should and lost the games they should. It's a killer schedule to be sure, so much respect to the AD over there, but they haven't been in close games where we can then track those opponents' records and schedules to see what kind of season they are having. I can't really tell who DCD is comparable to.

That said, both teams will feel the pressure to extend their seasons. If one team jumps to an early lead, they could roll.

I would say that 3 of those 4 teams will win state titles this year. Loyola and Muskegon CC would be title contenders in D-4 through D-8 in my opinion. They have the size and talent of D-1 teams and would probably make the playoffs in D-1.

If Country Day makes the playoffs, they will most likely have a good chance to win a regional and make it to the semi-finals in D-4.

Milan loses due to lack of Discipline, short of numbers and very young maturity level. They are not ready to compete with the Big Boy teams yet

I think Milan will play well.

I know a bunch of kids personally on Milan. They will give it all they have. I think they can do it. I know one kid who wants it real bad.

A friend of mine has a nephew that plays for DCD. They say the same thing us Milan folk say, lost the games due to lack of execution, pentalties, turnovers , ect. They too believe they are a better team than the record shows. They truely lost to 2 teams and should be 6-2 right now. I watched film on them and in my opinion, if Milan can run the ball, and contain DCD's QB and force them to pass, Milan wins. If it's a low scoring game it's a toss up. If Milan's D does not step up and keep them under 14 points then it will be hard going for us.
I'm staying positive and having faith that our kids want this game. Maybe not for a playoff birth, but more so that no one thinks they can win. I believe Milan gets it done.
We will find out tomorrow night ! Good luck and play hard BIg Reds!

Just read this in MLive:

"Detroit Country Day lineman verbally commits to Harvard -- Scout.com’s Allen Trieu reported that Country Day offensive tackle Justin Hunter (video highlights) verbally committed to Harvard last week.

The 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle picked the Ivy League school over offers from Eastern Michigan, Massachusetts, Ohio and Syracuse.

Scout has Hunter as a 3-star prospect while Rivals lists him as a 2-star recruit."

Milan can only win if they play the best complete game of the year on all three phases. How hard is that....

Whoever wants it more will win.
