Huron @ Airport

Huron (5-1) is coming off of a 38-14 win over Jefferson while Airport (3-3) fell to Grosse Ile 34-14. Huron won last seasons game 28-21 which was the Chief's first victory in 29 years over the Jets.

Huron has been running the ball extremely well lately with three different players getting regular carries. The defense has played well all season especially in the 1st half.

Airport was surprised last week by Grosse Ile and their passing game. The Jets offense excels offensively by running the ball just as the defense is better at stopping the run.

This should be a competitive game and I like the Jets chances against the Chiefs. Many times football is about match ups and these two teams match up very well. I don't see an upset here, but the point spread will be small. Prediction: Huron 24 Airport 21

any one thought huron being this good this year

Yes. I think they and smcc are the two best teams. Huron does not play to their potential. But I think they have not played to their potential for a few years. Just my opinion. And no I am not a Huron fan.

Huron has been slowly gaining momentum over the years. The little league football organization is now beginning to bear fruit.
Keep in mind Huron has had 3 season ending injuries to 3 starters - 1 on offense (knee), two on defense (knee and arm).
They have had some younger kids step up.
That being said, they have not played a full game this year yet - have shown flashes, but, at times the offense goes into a lull or the defense does. They have let Milan, Riverview, and Jefferson back into the game when it was basically out of reach in early third quarter.
Can Airport contain the Huron triple option (run, pass, keeper)?
Can Huron neutralize the king sized offensive line of Airport with smaller, quicker D lineman?

Should be a good game. Airport gets a boost playing in front of a homecoming crowd. Huron is driven to get the sixth win and a trip to the postseason.

Game will be won in the 4th quarter by the team that wants it more. Chris, I like your scores, close game, Huron gets the nod.

I know bn did. He stated it a few times.

Airport cannot commit turnovers like they did last week or they have no shot. The biggest advantage i see for Huron is QB play and that might make the difference. EM

All i know is huron better bring it. Airport is going to be fired up! Homecoming.big crowd. Will not be quiet like at the cc game. Go jets

I always chuckle at the "team that wants it more" comment.

The better coached team usually wins no matter who wants it more.

Huron won against View with a boasted homecoming crowd against them also. Bear that in mind ;) depending if I'm home in time from the honeymoon I may make the trip. Good luck Chiefs!! 1 more win seals the deal to the post season!

"whoever wants it more"?

Have you ever played the game?
Talented, driven kids win games despite mediocre or weak coaching.

If you want it badly, you give extra, you do not let down when tired.
Gimme a break. I guess coaching just did it for you...if you ever played a meaningful game.

Chris, if Airport loses the rest of their games like I think they will, does Baas stay another year?

I think he would stay. Two years isn't very long.

Huron has big linemen and one of the best quarterbacks in the league. With as good of an offense they have I think airport has a defense that will be able to stop them with the big D-line that they have and in my opinion one of the best linebackers in the league #42. If there offense shows up to this game then they have a chance if not they can say goodbye to the playoffs.

Must win for airport much like last week. Let's see if they show up.

This is the true test for Baas and his staff! Lets see if Airport can turn the corner. Years ago they always had that win that propelled them. This would be in. Homecoming with Huron Looking ahead to a Rivarly game...

Calpreps says: Huron 38 Airport 21

For me, I'll even take a one point win, just so it's in Huron's favor. One game at a time...
