Huron League Thoughts and Questions

Maybe the league is a little down this year. Thoughts?

I heard the better team won over at Navarre last night.

Hampton right, Hampton left, all the way down the field. Bring in a Trenton kid for a 2 yard TD run. smh

Huron doesn't tackle very well.

I almost nailed a few of the scores yesterday.

I like Cesar Chavez's approach, but they wouldn't have won a game in the Huron League.

Riverview is my early pick for 2016 Huron League Champ.

Beautiful night for football last night

I'm working on my all league teams. Any suggestions?

18 seconds left, ball on the half yard line with one timeout and you only manage two plays?

Detroit Cesar Chavez @ Milan

Chavez (7-2) beat Oakland Christian 49-0 in week 9 while Milan (7-2) defeated Ann Arbor Huron 40-14. This is the first trip to the playoffs for the Aztec Eagles. These teams have never met.

These are exciting times in SW Detroit for the 6th year program. Coach Tarif Kumasi has done a great job of bringing an exciting brand of football to the mostly Latino school. QB Omar Salih has thrown for a mind boggling 3,800 yards and 42 TD's in the pass happy offense. His two favorite targets are senior Luis McPhaul and junior Anthony Turner. McPhaul has caught 35 passes and !) TD's while Turner has caught 29 for 11 TD's. The defense will give up points and are led by junior LB Alexander Lake and senior LB Javier Alonso.

Milan received a favorable draw in the District and could fine themselves in the Regional if they stay focused. Junior RB Trace Lindeman will be the best player the Eagles have seen all year. Lindeman has rushed for 1,158 yards and 16 TD's while junior QB has added 1,029 yards and 11 TD's on the ground. The Big Red defense is led by MLB Cortez Gray. The senior has recorded 95 tackles while sophomore Mike Furtney has added 67.

Chavez has had a nice season, but the only time they have faced stiff competition they have gotten beat badly. This will be over early. Pick: Milan 49 Cesar Chavez 14

Huron @ Trenton

Huron (5-4) is coming off of a 56-18 thrashing of Summit Academy while Trenton (8-1) beat Taylor Kennedy 49-0 to win a share of the Downriver League crown. These two teams have only met once in school history. The Chiefs beat the Trojans in last season's District Final 44-27.

Huron expected to have a better season and was fortunate to make the playoffs at 5-4. The Chiefs chances to win rely on the health of  QB Matt Hartwick. The senior has thrown for over 1,100 yards and has rushed for nearly 800 while accounting for 17 TD's. He missed last week's game with a broken hand. Senior RB Jacob Fryer has rushed for 752 yards and 8 TD's. The offensive line is led by senior Dale Midkiff. The 6-6 285 lb OT has had an outstanding season. The defense is led by junior LB Nik Becker and senior DE Jacon Davis. Junior kicker/punter Hunter Morse is a valuable resource and has hit FG's this season of 48 and 49 yards.

Trenton is led by a senior Pat Czarnecki. The athletic QB has thrown for over 1,000 yards and has rushed for 800 while accounting for 19 TD's. Flat Rock transfer Dontel Hampton has proved to be a valuable resource for the Trojans. The junior has rushed for 342 yards and has caught 21 passes for 426 yards while scoring 11 TD's this season He also contributes on defense as he has recorded 42 tackles and 1 Int. Senior Loren Sauve leads the Trojans in tackles along with junior Connor Charping.

This could be a good game. The QB's are fun to watch and are clones of each other. Trenton has a very good team capable of making a run in the playoffs. Huron has underachieved all season and this could be the game that the Chiefs have been waiting for all year. Pick: Trenton 34 Huron 24

Tuesday, October 27, 2015

Clinton @ SMCC

Clinton (9-0) defeated Whiteford last week 36-18 while SMCC (8-1) fell to Lansing Catholic Central 35-10. These two teams met last year with the Falcons prevailing 50-15. The Redskins have never beaten SMCC.

Clinton has only had one close game all season. That was week one 20-19 win over Manchester. Clinton is led by senior RB Matthew Sexton. Sexton is a burner who has rushed for over 1,500 yards and 25 TD's. He is joined in the backfield by fellow senior Noah Poore. Poore missed the first four games of the season and has rushed for 459 yards and 5 TD's the last five weeks. The defense is led by senior DE Ken Deshano and senior DT David Chantelois.

The SMCC offense is led by seniors Austin Burger and Justin Carrabino. Junior Kevin LaPrad will get some carries as well. Seniors Mitchell Poupard and Hunter Coombe anchor the offensive line. The defense is led by senior Riley Woolford and junior Justin LaPlante. Senior kicker Phillip Lehman has become a real weapon for the Falcons this season.

This should be a good game. I'm sure Clinton wished this game was being played at home. Last season was a blowout, but that shouldn't be the case this year. Pick: SMCC 40 Clinton 27

Riverview @ Allen Park

Riverview (6-3) is coming off of a 40-34 OT loss to River Rouge while Allen Park (8-1) wrapped up a share of the Downriver League title with a 66-6 thrashing of Taylor Truman. The last time these two teams met was in the 2004 playoffs. Allen Park leads the all-time series 7-1.

Riverview is looking to bounce back after blowing a big lead last week. Junior QB Donnell Williams leads the offense. The Pirates will look to run the ball 90% of the time. Senior Tyler Chase is a bruising FB that should give the Jaguars fits. Riverview's defense has been solid all season, but may struggle to stop Allen Park's spread offense. Riverview players to watch are Evan Begeman, Wyatt Gardocki, Charles Chevillet, Dakota Martin, Shane Sparks and Brian Gubbini.

Allen Park is led by QB Antonio Mangiapane. The junior is a dual threat player with star qualities. He has a boatload of skill players that he will get the ball to, those include; Reid Paffhausen, Ryan Fish, Michael Bress and Nate Berrelez. The offensive and defensive lines are the strength of the Jaguars team this year and are led by Ryan Compean, Carlos Agen, and Owen Balestrieri.

This game could go either way. Both teams strengths are their defenses.  If this were going to be a 3 yards and a cloud of dust, then I would take the Pirates. Allen Park's spread offense should give Riverview fits. This should be a low scoring, but I have a feeling some points might be put up. Pick: Allen Park 24 Riverview 21

MHSAA State Playoff Pairings

Division 6
Region 4 District 2
Clinton (9-0) @ SMCC (8-1)
Michgan Collegiate (5-4) @ Madison Heights Madison (8-1)

Outlook: This will be a three team battle. Not sure how SMCC secures a home game while 9-0 Clinton ends up playing on the road. This may be the year Clinton gets by SMCC.

State Champion Pick: Traverse City St. Francis

Division 4
Region 4 District 1
Detroit Cesar Chavez (7-2) @ Milan (7-2)
Detroit Denby 5-4 @ Detroit Collegiate Prep (9-0)

Outlook: This district is Milan's to win. Chavez wouldn't win a game in the Huron league. Collegiate Prep hasn't played a very tough schedule. If you aren't familiar with them, they are the old Detroit Northwestern.

State Champion Pick: Zeeland West

Division 3
Region 4 District 1
New Boston Huron (5-4) @ Trenton (8-1)
Romulus (6-3) @ Chelsea (8-1)

Outlook: Huron has to feel fortunate to be in the playoffs. Trenton and Chelsea are the favorites.

Region 4 District 2
Riverview (6-3) @ Allen Park (8-1)
Warren Fitzgerald (6-3) @ Redford Thurston (5-4)

Outlook: Riverview received a tough draw, but if they get by Allen Park they should win this district.

State Champion Pick: Orchard Lake St. Mary

Huron League Thoughts and Questions

That SMCC score didn't surprise me.

Is everything okay over at Milan?

What happen to Riverview?

I hope Huron never plays Summit Academy again.

I think I won a hundy on the Grosse Ile/Bradford Academy game.

Three wins is better than the last few seasons for more than one Huron League team.

I don't think Airport caught many breaks this year.

I think SMCC will make another solid run in the playoffs.

It looks like Huron may sneak in the playoffs at 5-4 and will most likely play at Chelsea.

I anticipate SMCC hosting Grass Lake in the Division 6 Pre district.

Look for Riverview playing at Trenton in the Division 3 Pre district.

Look for Milan to travel to River Rouge in Division 4 Pre district play.

I wasn't too far off on my predictions this season.

I believe I finished 34-10 in picking Huron League games this year.

Looks like the UM defense played well this week, they didn't give up a point.

Spartans will!

Still Lions free.

Lansing Catholic Central @ SMCC

This is the Game of the Week in the Huron League and one of the top games in the state in week nine. Lansing Catholic (7-1) is coming off of a 41-6 victory over Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard while SMCC (8-0) defeated rival Monroe Jefferson 49-7.  The Cougars won last season's week nine match up 27-22.  The overall series is tied at one a piece.

Lansing Catholic is led by QB Tony Poljan. The senior has thrown for 1,169 yards and 12 TD's while rushing for 778 yards and 16 TD's. Poljan's main target through the air is senior Tony Palmer. The defense is led by senior LB's Peter Galer and Caaolan Keenan.

SMCC is led on offense by senior RB Justin Carrabino. senior QB Austin Burger has done a great job of running the Falcon offense. Defensively, the Monroe Catholics are giving up just 13 ppg are led by junior LB Justin LaPlante and  senior DE Riley Woolford.

This should be a great game. It is a definite advantage for SMCC to be playing at home for many reasons. The Falcons won the last meeting in 2013 at Navarre Field by a score of 49-20. Pick LCC 32 SMCC 26

River Rouge @ Riverview

River Rouge (7-1) is coming off of a forfeit win over Detroit Edison while Riverview (6-2) beat arch-rival Grosse Ile 21-20. Only about 8 miles as the crow flies separate these two schools, yet they have never met in football.

River Rouge has become a solid program and made a small run last season in Division 5. The Panthers really don't have a quality win this season, but their only loss is to 7-1 Notre Dame Prep. Senior RB Lenell Martin Jr. is a small yet elusive runner while WR Aaron Vinson is an explosive player. The Panthers boast an extremely big offensive line.

Riverview is led by arguably the best two way player in the Huron League in senior FB/LB Tyler Chase. The bulk of the offense will still go through senior RB Eric Gant. The Pirate defense is extremely physical, but may have a hard time keeping up with the Panther spread offense.

This is a great week 9 match up which should prepare both teams for the playoffs. Give me the running game and defense of the Pirates. Pick: Riverview 21 River Rouge 19

Owosso @ Jefferson

Owosso (0-8) is coming off of a 43-8 loss to Notre Dame Prep while Jefferson (2-6) fell at home to rival SMCC 49-7. These two teams have never met.

The Trojans have only won 2 games since qualifying for the playoff in 2012. The Owosso offense is led by junior QB Nate Nicevski. Both lines are anchored by senior lineman Dylan Stanfield.

A Jefferson win would give the Bears their best record since the 2011 season. The Bears will look to pound the ball against a Trojan defense that is giving up 45 ppg.

This looks like a win for the Bears on paper, but Owosso is basically an unknown. Pick: Jefferson 27 Owosso 21

Milan @ Ann Arbor Huron

Milan (6-2) is coming off of a 38-30 double OT victory over Airport while Huron (0-8) lost to Ypsi Lincoln 41-7. These two teams have never met on the gridiron.

Milan survived a scare last week against Airport. The Big Reds have qualified for the playoffs and will need a win here to possibly secure a home playoff game. This doesn't seem to be the same team that was hitting on all cylinders earlier in the year.

Huron is a big school that just can't seem to find any football success. The River Rats are a relatively young team but are led by seniors Marcus Edmondson, Max Bernstein and Tim Runstadler. Huron has struggled to score this season and is giving up 41 ppg.

Milan needs to be careful here. This game will be closer than many people think. Pick: Milan 28 Huron 13

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

Southfield Bradford @ Grosse Ile

Bradford Academy (4-4) is coming off of a 16-12 loss to Old Redford Academy while Grosse Ile (3-5) lost to rival Riverview 21-20. This is the first ever meeting between the Red Devils and the Bulldogs.

Bradford is in their seventh year as a program and will be vying for their first winning season on Friday.

Grosse Ile has been up and down all season. Most likely because they are a young team.

Don't let the records fool you here. This game won't be close. Prediction Grosse Ile 38 Bradford 12

Airport @ Tecumseh

Airport (1-7) is coming off of a hard fought double OT 38-30 loss to Milan while Tecumseh (3-5) is coming off of a 60-27 loss to Bedford. Airport won last season's match up 49-28 while Tecumseh leads the all-time series 23-16-1.

Airport played really well last week against Milan. Senior RB Dylan Meiring continues to lead the Jets offense. QB Bryce Cole has emerged as a passer as Airport has opened up the offense a bit. The defense is led by juniors Justin Gorteski and Brent Mossburg.

Tecumseh has fallen off a bit from last season. The  offense is led by senior RB Mitch Meger who is averaging over 200 yards per game. Senior QB Jakob Coker has thrown for over 1,000 yards and had 13 TD tosses. The defense is led by senior MLB Landon Pelham.

I expect this game to be high scoring and I hope Airport can keep it close. Prediction: Tecumseh 49 Airport 28

Summit @ Huron

Summit (0-8) is coming off of a er........... Why?

Prediction: Huron 100 Summit 0

Monday, October 19, 2015

Flat Rock @ Hazel Park

Flat Rock (2-6) is coming off of a 42-20 loss to rival Huron while Hazel Park (1-7) lost at Ferndale 38-28. The is the first game ever between these two high schools.

Both teams entered the season with long losing streaks. The Rams had lost 18 straight before defeating Summit Academy in the opener while Hazel Park had lost 24 straight. The Vikings lone win this season was over 0-8 Pontiac.

Flat Rock has shown improvement this season and is led at QB Justin Roberts. Sophomore RB Saige Daniels has shown flashes The defense is led by sophomore Mason Hamilton and junior Noah Zarbaugh.

Hazel Park has improved this season under 1st year head coach Kyle Rowley. The Vikings have shown an ability to score. Players to watch out for our QB Damien Ewald, RB Jalen Adams and LB Jared Schultz

This should be a good game between two programs with young head coaches. Flat Rock plays in a tougher league and should love playing on the nice field at Hazel Park. Pick Flat Rock 27 Hazel Park 21

Huron League Thoughts and Questions

I like that the Huron League has a rivalry game in week 8.

Congrats to SMCC on another league title.

Did Milan wake up at halftime?

Looks like Riverview stole won along with the Colvin Cup. Congrats!

Did Huron sleep through the 1st quarter.

Verna's?

Sounds like Airport played really really well.

Grosse Ile didn't give up that cup without a fight.

Hats off to Flat Rock, they just got tired.

Congrats to Riverview, SMCC and Milan for making the playoffs.

Huron has an outside chance at the playoffs, but will need some help.

Cold beautiful night for football on Friday.

Flat Rock's new scoreboard is awesome!

Week Nine is here! Let's support all Huron League teams!

I predicted a three point Spartan win, four points is just as good.

Thank you Vegas for the very generous betting line! Life is good!

Michigan State @ Michigan

This is the Game of the Week in the state of Michigan. Michigan State (6-0) is ranked #7 in the AP Poll and is coming off of a 31-24 ho-hum win over Rutgers. Michigan (5-1) is ranked #12 and man handled Northwestern last week 38-0. The Spartans won last year's match up in East Lansing 35-11. Michigan leads the all-time series 68-34-5. They also lead the all-time Big Ten series which features the Paul Bunyan Trophy 35-25-2.

The Spartans have sputtered since reaching the #2 ranking back in week two. Injuries have decimated many of the their strengths and remain huge question marks entering the game in Ann Arbor. State is however; still undefeated and are led on offense by starting QB Connor Cook. The 5th year senior is once again having a solid season having thrown for over 1,300 yards, along with 12 TD's and only 2 Int's thus far. His favorite target has been senior WR Aaron Burbridge who has already has 34 receptions this season. True Freshman L.J. Scott leads the Spartan rushing attack and has scored 6 TD's while averaging 6.0 ypc. Look for his workload to go up this week with Madre London most likely out for this week's game.

Defensively, the Spartans have been less than stellar this season and have failed to live up to the lofty standards set by recent Spartan defenses. Senior Shalique Calhoun leads the MSU defense with 5 sacks and 6 tackles for loss while junior Riley Bullough leads the team with 55 tackles. Senior Lawrence Thomas and sophomore Malik McDowell are part of the best defensive line the Wolverines will have seen all year.

Michigan has surprised many after their opening week defeat at Utah. Coach Jim Harbaugh has shown many what the hype was all about as he has turned the Wolverines from a soft team into one of the nation's most physical. The offense is led by senior transfer QB Jake Rudock. His numbers aren't gaudy, but he does just enough to help make the Michigan offense effective. Tight end Jake Butt has showed everyone why he is the best player at his position in the country by hauling in 22 reception thus far to go along with 1 TD. The improved offensive line has helped bolster a running game that is averaging over 200 yards per game led by junior De'Veon Smith.

The strength of Michigan's team this year besides Harbaugh has been the defense. Michigan has shut out three straight opponents and currently has one of the nation's best defenses along with Boston College. The Wolverines lead the nation in scoring defense. Senior's Joe Bolden and Desmond Morgan lead the Michigan defense in tackles. Senior DT Willie Henry leads the defense in sacks with 4 while senior DE Chris Wormley leads in tackles for loss with 7. Sophomore Jabril Peppers has been outstanding on defense and special teams this season and may be the most exciting defensive player the Wolverine have had since Heisman winner Charles Woodson.

This should be a great game and I am quite certain that we will see the best from both of these teams. Michigan has the edge in playing at home. Match ups to watch will be the Michigan defensive line against State's offensive line along with Michigan's Jake Rudock against State's secondary. Another match up to watch is the head coaches, as they match wits. Jim Harbaugh is a great coach and has had the advantage in each of the first 6 games this season. That won't be be the case this week as Mark Dantonio is one of the best coaches in the country. Ultimately this game will come down to State's Connor Cook against the Michigan defense. With the exception of week 1, the Michigan defense has feasted on young and/or inexperienced QB's. That won't be the case this week in Cook. UM will look to get pressure on him and force him into making some mistakes.

While Michigan at this point is a 7 point favorite, this to me looks like a pick'em game that would make Michigan a slight favorite because they are the home team. If we want to go with the look test, Michigan looks like the better team at this point. With that said, I will go with the higher ranked Spartans. Pick: Michigan State 20 Michigan 17

Milan @ Airport

Milan (5-2) is coming off of a tough 41-14 home loss to SMCC while Airport continues it's struggles with a 42-21 Homecoming loss to Grosse Ile. Milan won last year's game 45-27 and leads the all-time series 32-15-1.

Milan will look to get on track this week after a tough loss. The Big Reds are still a very good football team led by a solid coach and some very very good football players.

Airport has struggled all season and appears poised for their worst record in nearly 30 years. The Jets have struggled on both sides of the ball this season and things don't get any easier this week.

Milan has the talent to make a state playoff run, but they won't overlook Airport this week. Pick. Milan 41 Airport 6

SMCC @ Jefferson

SMCC (7-0) beat Milan last week 41-14 while Jefferson (2-5) fell to Huron 30-14. The Falcons won last season's match up at Navarre Field 47-7. The Falcons lead the all-time series 33-15.

SMCC continues to roll with the state's longest winning streak. The defense is playing well while the running game just continues to grind.

Jefferson blew an early lead to Huron last week and continues to struggle to put up points. The Bears will have their work cut out for them this week.

This rivalry game is always fun. The Bears always find a way to play just a little harder, as do the Falcons. Pick: SMCC 34 Jefferson 7

Grosse Ile @ Riverview

Grosse Ile (3-4) is coming off of a 42-21 victory over Airport while Riverview (5-2) blasted Flat Rock 44-12. The Red Devils won last year's game 28-14. The series which features the Colvin Cup is led by Riverview 35-20.

Grosse Ile bounced back from a two game losing streak last week. Look for the Islanders to spread the field and force Riverview to match their team speed.

Riverview is playing well right now and will line it up and tell their rivals to stop the run. A win for the Pirates would qualify them for the playoffs.

This is usually a very good game and many times you can throw out the records. I will go with the better defensive team. Pick: Riverview 28 Grosse Ile 14

Tuesday, October 13, 2015

Huron @ Flat Rock

Huron (3-4) is coming off of a 30-14 victory over Jefferson while Flat Rock (2-5) fell at Riverview 44-12. Huron won last season's contest 48-6, but the Rams lead the all-time series 36-14.

Huron was able to break a four game losing streak against the Bears. The offense still revolves around senior QB Matt Hartwick. The defense is led in tackles by junior LB Nik Becker.

Flat Rock is led by their QB Justin Roberts. The athletic senior is capable of running or throwing the ball. The defense has been better this year, but struggled last week against the powerful Riverview running game.

This is a good rivalry game where both teams will come to play. I don't see an upset here, but this may not be a gimmee for the Chiefs. Pick Huron 31 Flat Rock 12

Huron League Thoughts and Questions

Wow!

Why didn't Milan's Demetrius Barnes start Friday?

Nothing flashy about the Riverview football team that is playing very well right now.

Big rivalry game for my Alma Mater this week.

Huron sure flipped the script on the halftime haters this week.

When you win it's the kids fault when you lose it's the coach's fault.

Grosse lie could be very good next year.

That's a lot of points given up on Homecoming.

So.....Lindeman or Carrabino?

I think Milan's Cortez Gray may be playing hurt.

I knew after each team's first series who would win that big game .

Kipf for Coach of the Year?

Rivalry week is here for the league. College too, although UM fan won't admit that State is a rival.

All League LB picks? This will be tough.

I expected a bigger crowd at Milan Friday.

Big JV game when Flat Rock travels to Huron Thursday. Please tell me JV doesn't matter to those kids, coaches and parents.

For all of the critics that said I wasn't publishing their comments yesterday, I was gone all day from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm. I do have a life other than publishing anonymous butthead's spineless post.

SMCC @ Milan

SMCC (6-0) is coming off of a 49-7 victory over Airport while Milan (5-1) defeated Grosse Ile 44-7. SMCC won last year's game 43-0 and leads the all-time series 13-8.

SMCC relies on their running game and offensive time of possession. Senior QB Austin Burger has done a masterful job of running the Falcon offense. RB's Justin Carrabino and Kevin LaPrad have both been highly effective again this season. Defensively, Riley Woolford and Hunter Coombe lead a unit that is giving up just 9.0 ppg in league play this season.

The Milan offense has been explosive this season. The emergence of  QB Demetrius Barnes as a threat to create a TD on every play has opened up bigger and better running lanes for RB Trace Lindeman. Cortez Gray and Scot Steubben lead a defense that is giving up just 11 ppg in league play.

This is a great match up in what amounts to a league championship game even though there will still be another week of league games after this one. Carrabino and Lindeman are the two best offensive players in the league this season and undoubtedly will be relied on heavily this week.

This is the game of the year in the Huron League and both teams appear poised for long playoff runs. There should be a big crowd in Milan on Friday. I know I will be there. Look for the game to be an absolute barn burner with the game coming down to the final play. Pick: Milan 21 SMCC 20 OT

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

Grosse Ile @ Airport

Grosse Ile (2-4) is coming off of a 44-7 loss to MIlan while Airport (1-5) lost to SMCC 49-7. Grosse Ile won last year's game 24-14 and leads the all-time series 37-26-2.

Grosse Ile is in the midst of a two game losing streak where both the offense and defense have struggled against the top two teams in the league.

Airport has lost three in a row. The Jets one dimensional offense has been hard pressed to put up points while their usual stout defense has been anything but that.

This is pretty much a pick'em game that could go either way. Give me John Bodner in this match up. Pick: Grosse Ile 20 Airport 14

Huron @ Jefferson

Huron (2-4) fell at home to Riverview 22-7 while Jefferson (2-4) defeated Flat Rock 20-6. Huron won last year's game 38-14, but Jefferson leads the all-time series 36-15.

Huron is in the midst of a four game losing streak. The offense has struggled the last four weeks while the defense has as well. Matt Hartwick and Jacob Fryer lead the Chief offense.

Jefferson took care of business last week and is looking to get their first victory over the Chiefs since 2011. Look for Jefferson to run the ball while be opportunistic with the pass.

This should be a tightly contested game that could go either way.Pick Huron 24 Jefferson 13

MLive State Game of the Week

Here we go again. The Milan/SMCC game is up for the biggest game in the state of Michigan this week. Please vote.

Vote Here: Milan/SMCC

Flat Rock @ Riverview

Flat Rock (2-4) is coming off of a 20-6 homecoming loss to Jefferson while Riverview (4-2) beat Huron 22-7. Riverview won last year's game 53-6 and leads the all-time series 35-5.

Flat Rock struggled offensively against a bigger Jefferson team last week. Turnovers killed the Rams. The offense will need to look to air it out against the physical Pirates while hoping to stop the running game.

Riverview seems to run only a few different plays on offense. Look for Eric Gant to carry off tackle at least 20 times. .

Not a good match up for the Rams. Riverview likes to line up and punch people in the mouth. This week will be no different. Pick: Riverview 35 Flat Rock 13

Vote for Game of the Week

Biggest Huron League game of the year is up for Mlive Regional Game of the Week.

Please vote: SMCC/Milan

Where Do I Stand

At the beginning of the season I make picks of where I think teams will end up in the regular season. It is never an easy task, but I usually do reasonably well. I have listed where I picked the teams, where they are now and where I see them finishing.

Huron League Thoughts and Questions

Milan seems to be getting better and better.

SMCC too!

Riverview is clearly the 3rd best team in the Huron League.

I believe Jefferson has another win in them.

There is speed, then there is speed.

Airport has one more shot at another win.

Disappointing season for the Chiefs thus far.

You can't win them all Flat Rock. Get one more win and the season is a success.

Cortez Gray or Tyler Chase?

Justin Carrabino or Trace Lindeman?

Adam Kipf or Jesse Hoskins?

I know what game I will be at this week.

That was certainly football weather Friday.

Why so many rude people on the blog this season?

Lions free!

Why are all my UM friends looking past Northwestern and toward October 17th?

Spartans will!
