Assuming Milan loses tonight and GI and Milan both win next week, why would it be a co-championship? Wouldn't Milan have the tie breaker?

Up set in the making here? 3 minutes left Milan has the ball still down by 10. Plenty of time with #9 in the back field.

No tie breaker in HL.
Co or tri champions in 50% or last 50 seasons (roughly).
Both teams still have one more league game to play. Anything can still happen...
Milan has AP and GI has Riverview in final week of league play.

Anonymous said...

Hawks capture prey with their talons, while Falcons use their beaks(Heads). They are both skilled hunters but go about their hunting in different ways. Their differences in size, color and diets set the two apart. Way to go Smcc maybe next year Hawks!

Congrats to SMCC. Wish I had the chance to see this game for myself.

Ibsee why #9 dad and milan fans were so worried about the cochamps thing. They must have known they were about to get beat.
BUBBLES

Anonymous said...

Some Milan people think "football is life" well life must really stink now!! At least they can tell stories about the night that they lost to the Falcons in 2016.

Anonymous said...

Jefferson had a couple nice drives, but Huron had a couple big plays to make the difference. Big Play on a bad handoff, big play near the end after Jefferson gave it up on downs. That was the difference.

Miller kid pretty good, definitely Huron's go to guy.

BIG week heading up to Jefferon/SMCC game. Playoffs at stake

High school football at its best.

Anonymous said...

WOW, a D-6 team put it to you tonight. Good luck in the playoffs.

Yo Mamma said...

It's time, Milan fans. Please send any and all excuses to the Huron League Blog, c/o Chris Schultz. The absolutely moronic excuse of the night wins a prize. The first place winner will receive a personalized black and red dunce cap, along with the ridicule of the rest of the Huron League. You've got a great team Milan, but you can't beat a team with magic pants and rocket cleats. We may not get any hardware this season, but we soiled yours.

Anonymous said...

It's not zone you dolt

Anonymous said...

Really good game in Monroe tonight. Credit the Falcons. The 60 yd td to put Milan up a touchdown before half that got called back hurt Milan. Then the trap on 3rd and 30 was a killer. Credit to SMCC. Good team all around. Milan couldn't run inside with the d line cutting them everyplay and there were no lanes. Good game tonight by both teams.

Again you will not hear any excuses from me. I do believe we lost the trenches. To me that's where you have to win. Hats off to SMCC they played a great game. Good luck with the rest of your season. On to next week.

#9 Dad said...

Actually your not. You have 3 losses. We just didn't get it done. It's the part of FOOTBALL that teaches you about disappointment, and that IS LIFE.

Leave no doubt-make sure that they remember the night they played the FALCONS.

#9 Dad said...

No bubbles, we just wanted it out right. Now we learn from our mistakes and move on. I didn't see that loss coming. And I'm not to proud to say I was wrong. Good job to SMCC, Milan will bounce back.

Anonymous said...

I'm not hear to bash Milan but this Smcc team is not the same.. They are young and coming together and Coach Kipf has now got the right players in the right spots.. And not to mention getting healthy doesn't hurt.. Get ready Falcon faithful I can see a deep playoff run in this team..

Anonymous said...

Nice pick Gary

Anonymous said...

So - anyone on here who thinks that SMCC beating Milan tonight was an upset are new to Huron League football. This is always an emotional and physical game. Tonight no different. Congrats to SMCC on a well played game. Well deserved. I would bet that many of those CHEERING the Falcons on this blog were the same ones who were complaining about the Falcons coaching staff the previous weeks.

I was impressed with the Laplante kid.....too bad that offense doesn't really showcase his talents. He is a really good player. By the way, what is up with the SMCC fans on the Milan sidelines and in the end zone? Enjoy your weekend....back to work on Monday.

Smcc just layed the smack down on Milan. Entire team win from the punter pinning Milan within the ten and big hits on defense.

Keep the comments coming people. I will be up late cooking a couple of pork shoulders on the smoker/grill. I will get them posted as they come in.

Anonymous said...

You can't catch SMCC cause the rabbits done died.

Anonymous said...

Fortunately #9dad smcc will make playoffs at 5-4 if we lose to LCC I know.. but its because we beat teams like Milan and we're expected to make it to playoffs!

#9 dad seems pretty classy to me. Nothin wrong with being proud of your son and his team

SMCC better win against Jefferson, or they risk a 4-5 record. Otherwise, this Milan win was as close as you'll come to the playoffs.

As a matter of fact, we are in the playoffs #9 Dad. GO RED DEVILS!!

Stay humble SMCC great win tonight no need to brag. Don't forget you lost to Huron and Grosse Ile. You have something to build on now.

#9 Dad said...

If you win out. You have another league game.

Anonymous said...

Wow! Heck of a game SMCC. How the hell did you lose 3 games. Congrats!

Anonymous said...

SMCC was far from healthy tonight, several players sitting out because injuries. Two RBs plus their kicker too. Couple of LBs too. SMCC played the best they have all year. If they played that way all season they would win by double digits every week. Definitely would have beat PW Week 1. Plus they held the best RB in MHSAA history to less than 150 yds rushing.... Jared Smith.

Chris Schultz said...

Both

Anonymous said...

The best thing about this game is that the two teams get together at the middle of the field after the game. Great HL football game tonight. Fun to watch.

Anonymous said...

30-20 is not a smack down.

Anonymous said...

SMCC played a heck of a game tonight!! Milan was a great opponent, they played as a team and they won as a team. We have a young team and I look forward to the future at SMCC. It might have helped that SMCC comes to play when it's the week of Milan!!! Just wondering... Does #9 Dad have any more players coming up to the HS next year?

-SMCC PxP

Chris Schultz said...

Jared Smith had 23 carries for 218 yards and 2 TD's against SMCC.

Anonymous said...

Seeing your son play he could be a decent D3 player or NAIA been a pleasure watching him. Best of luck!

Chris Schultz said...

He is a DII player.

Gary Hauf said...

Just need 5 wins. But Jefferson will come to play.

Anonymous said...

The game wasn't as close as the score

Anonymous said...

Speaking of smith, his team has outscored opponents 370-7 the past 6 games 😲😳 Or 400-27 including the smcc game and they dropped 80 tonite. I see a state championship for them

Chris Schultz said...

Would the DB's please go to sleep now!

8:00 am at Farmers. Btw, classy that Milan came to mid field after the game to take a knee w SMCC

Anonymous said...

Same guys have been standing there for 10+ years. Great fans. Alumni runs thick at CC.
Good times.

Anonymous said...

Smcc will beat Jefferson no doubt and 5-4 6-3 will get them in playoffs.

Anonymous said...

Noticed at the SMCC game that there was a new center. If this move was made at start of year I think that team could be undefeated or just one loss. What a difference. Never understood why that was. Must be some political thing. Either way the line looked very good and Milan is fast as hell. I heard some Milan people saying #9 doesn't get the ball enough but I think the Milan coach plays that card well. He used as a decoy which opens things up the QB and other backs to run. That was just a good game to watch. To bad somebody had to lose. I would have paid triple to see that game.

Anonymous said...

The prayer at the end of the game between Milan and SMCC was incredible to see. Hats off to both schools for doing this. It was so right in so many ways. Much respect for both programs. Parents on both sides should be proud to have their sons play in either program. That's what it is all about! God Bless!

Anonymous said...

#9 Dad -- where is your son likely to be playing next year? I want to thank him for years of watching him play. My son tells me your boy is a class act on the field. I wish nothing but good luck for him.

Great win for the Bucs last night! The Running backs Rodgers,Warlick and Rice with the help of the O-line put it on the Rams all night. The Bucs uses Wood their 3rd Qb of the season and he did very well running and executing the plays all night.. The Bucs Defense shut down the Rams only allowing 1 big play for a TD and giving up very few 1st downs and limiting there passing and shutting down any real run game the Rams had. The Rams 2nd score came on a mis Q on the Bucs special teams. Next season look out for the Bucs if that's the running backs they are going to be using and they are going to have pretty much the whole O-line and defense returning they will be a very good team! I thought the Rams would be better than what we seen last night I was a little disappointed with all the chatter on the blog on how improved they are.

Anonymous said...

Because smcc's kicker is very important, they don't kick ? Lol

Anonymous said...

Chris do you think anyone in this league has D1 potential???? Gary thoughts??

Anonymous said...

If view played the same way they did last night all year they'd probably have 2 more wins. They played amazing last night. Go bucs

Yo Mamma said...

We're not bragging. After reading all of the Milan bragging in the beginning of this week, we just decided to do our talking AFTER the game. We still have a long way to go.

Anonymous said...

Honestly I believe Milan matches up well against GI that was evident in a dominating victory. Speed vs speed Milan is better. GI matches up very well against tight formations that's evident in every game vs a wing t team or a power football team. Now the GI Flatrock game GI won but they gave up 20 pts to a spread team. Same with Huron game. Milan on the other hand killed Huron and Flatrock. But on the other hand when Milan plays those tight packed offenses they struggle. Jefferson game 41-38 CC game last night 30-20.

Gary Hauf said...

The center Davis Brinkmaier just got back from injury. He was a factor.

Anonymous said...

Anyone from the GI/AP game know what all the yelling was about by one of the AP coaches? Sitting in the stands for GI it looked like he was screaming at our kids. Another parent said he was yelling at our coaches. Think it was at the end of the 3rd or beginning of the 4th qtr.
There was a long discussion between this coach and coach Bodner after the handshake near midfield.
GI Parent

Anonymous said...

That strategy didn't work last night did it? Sometimes just sometimes you have to give #9 the ball more than 6 times especially when you are losing.

Anonymous said...

I don't think what Milan did last night would have worked. SMCC was overplaying and they were were not going to run up the middle much. Defensive coordinator did his homework. SMCC coaches showed something last night

Anonymous said...

Stop with the d1 talk. Does it matter d2, NAIA, d3. Getting the opportunity to play at the next level what difference does it make. After watching the game last night there were not any d1 football players out there. If so they would have dominated a small young d6 team. And don't say you had an off night just got dominated on both sides of the ball. Being on a d1 team (walk on) and being able to actually play at that level are 2 different things.

#9 Dad said...

Not for sure yet. We are still fishing.

#9 Dad said...

No I don't. My baby days are done. I help our youth football. It's fun and growing.

#9 Dad said...

I'm very proud. Not ashamed at all. We lost. More football to play.

Anonymous said...

Don't know about that but my son said he has never been swore and cussed at so much on the field ever by another team!

Anonymous said...

David was dressed for every game. He wasn't just back and has been ready to play since Pewamo Westphalia.

Anonymous said...

How about u throw your stellar resume into the coaching ring? I'm sure you are way more qualified. The coaches have only put your some in the wrong position based on your "film review"'lol. Amazing. Your son must be proud as his dad yells obscenities from the stands. What an embarrassment. It's for this reason that a lot of good people leave cosch. Idiot parents.

NJC54 said...

Funny... there were at least 2 on the field with D1 offers, if you believe what you hear....

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry what teams do you play for non league this year? I'm sure it's not on the level of CCs schedule with teams like Pewamo and LCC "cough cough" both state finalist in the past years

#9 Dad said...

What if Jefferson beats you though? Your high on hog right now, your thinking your already in.

Anonymous said...

All I meant was Milan lost! What did SMCC do defensively to slow there offense! Our defense should be embarrassed giving up 30+ a game! That's reality!! I know the coachs work there tails off! I'm not in anyway blaming them solely!

Anonymous said...

SMCC rose up to win 1 game. Relax folks. Huron beat them, GI killed them. Milan is predictable. SMCC knows this, Milan doesn't change anything when they play SMCC, so they beat them every year. Just a little film watching.

SMCC has Jefferson yet and LCC, 2 schools that are capable of beating them. As in any other level of football, anything can happen every week. Jefferson is also looking to make the playoffs, SMCC is in the way of that.

I haven't seen any D1 talent in our league this year. Some darn good kids, will definitely go to next level. If any make D1 they will be practice team. Play D2 or D3 where they will get to play.
